Winter Wonderland Anya and DT Call

I came across a new challenge blog (first challenge will be August 15th), and it will be a monthly challenge. You can also combine this challenge with as many other challenges as you like. Lately, I have been doing this, so it's right up my alley. To celebrate the opening of this challenge blog, they are giving away some yummy candy. Click on the picture below to check it out:

Since they are a new challenge blog, they are also looking for two Design Team Members, and I thought I'd give it a try. Here is the sketch provided:

Heere is what I came up with: "Winter Wonderland Anya".

I colored Miss Anya in with my copics, and layered parts of her with dimensionals. I then used Liquid Applique for her "furry" accents, and added stickles to those parts. The light blue paper (Provo Craft) was embossed with the Snow Dots embossing folder which, I was very happy to discover, was a perfect match for the DP I used. I knew I had bought some acetate glitter snowflakes last year, and never used them, so after a bit of digging, I came across them. They were a bit bigger than I had thought, so I just added one of the smaller ones to the center of the organdy bow, and another in the corner diagonal. I punched two snowflakes out of Bashful Blue paper and then covered them in Dazzling Diamonds and added those to the sides of the acetate snowflake. The rhinestones are Tulip, and they are the heat set ones. This is the first time I have used them and I LOVE them. They are sooooo easy to use.

Here is a closer view of the layering.

In the spirit of combining challenges, this card is also for the following challenges:
Club Anya - Club Couture Contest
One Stop Craft Challenge - Christmas in July
Creative Inspirations - Bling
Creative Card Crew - "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
Flourishes Timeless Tuesday - Monochromatic with white or cream (I'm hoping this qualifies, since I did use skin and hair color and my "violet" color is a blue violet)

My new Anya stamp

I haven't had a chance to use this set yet, and since there were two different challenges relating to summer, I thought it was a perfect time to ink her up. If the layout looks familiar, it is because I used the same sketch earlier today on my Christmas Card.

I decided to cut the image out and place her directly on the DP just to be different. I'm not really thrilled with how the picture turned out, so if I end up with a better one, I'll fix it.

This card is for the following challenges:
Double Dutch - Sketch (although I didn't finish in time to enter it)
Bee Crafty - "Summer Fun"
Roses on Paper - "Summer/Vacation"
Creative Card Crew - Polka Dots
Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Rain, Snow, Shine ~ The Greeting Farm

Embellishments: Dew Drops

Hambo Stamps Challenge

Hambo Stamps is holding a card challenge and is offering this free "Shellphone Pig" digital image to use (found here). I had a lot of different ideas for this, but decided on a beach scene when I came across this great coloring image at Lee Hansen Graphics.

I popped up his snout and his arm along with the shellphone for some extra dimension since this card does not have a lot of layers on it. I would have popped up more, but you can only get so much done in between puppy naps ;)
Because of the size I made the image, I didn't have much room for embellishments, so I just added a tag with a sentiment.

This card is also for the following challenges:
The Pink Elephant - "Animals"
Creative Belli Blog - Use a metal tag on your card
Charisma Cardz - "Tag It" - use a tag on your project
Cute Card Thursday - "Eye Eye" - use eyelets on your project
Bee Crafty - "Summer Fun"
Lili of the Valley - "Animals"

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Shellphone Pig - digi image - HAmbo Stamps; Beach Background - digital coloring book page - Lee Hansen Graphics; Sentiment - Crab & Company
Ink/Coloring: Copics (E31, E33, E30, R01, E55, E57, E59, RV000, RV00, RV02, B000, B21, B23, G24, G28, G29, Y11, Y13, YR12, YR14, YG06, YG07, YG09, N0, N2); Cool Caribbean
Paper: Cool Caribbean Kraft; Gina K Pure Luxury White
Embellishments: Metal Rimmed Tag (Avery); Eyelet (Making Memories)

Tools: Dimensionals

And yes, this is my 3rd post for the day. Having been away during the week, I needed to do some catch up (and have many, many blogs to catch up on as well).

When I get a bit more time to sit at the computer, I'll add a few pics of our new puppy!

A Christmas Card and 7 Challenges!

I finally had a bit of time to make a few things that are not for any DT, and I tried to combine as many challenges as I could in one card. Although it was a bit harder this time as most of the challenges I like to do were sketches, I managed to get 7 challenges in one card and here is the result:
I really like how this card turned out! I used this image since I haven't used her for quite some time, and thought these papers were good for the look I was going for. I sponged the edges of all the papers before putting them on the card and also sponged along the card base as well. The organdy ribbon was threaded through the buttons (thanks for the tip on getting the ribbon through the tiny button holes Jessica ~ it worked great) and then tied it in a bow. After completing three of these, I added them to the ends of the lace trim on the card. I sponged the edges of my image and sentiment and added them to the card. The thing I would change is the spacing on my eyelets, but it's too late now.....oh well...

Double Dutch - Sketch
Kaboodle Doodles - Buttons and Bows
Creative Inspiration - Distressing
One Stop Craft Challenge - Christmas in July
Cupcake Craft Challenge - Christmas in July
Digital Tuesdays - Christmas in July (my "digital" element is my sentiment)
Cute Card Thursday -"Eye, Eye" - Use Eyelets

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Hanglar and Stanglar stamp (I don't know the name of it); Sentiment ~ Computer Generated
Ink/Coloring: Copics (E00, E01, E51, E53, E57, E59, R20, R83, R85, R89, R59, G82, G85); Creamy Caramel Ink (for sponging all paper edges)
Paper: Kraft; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - Provo Craft (an older Christmas Stack)
Embellishments: Vintage Buttons and Vintage Lace Trim (unknown); Eyelets (Making Memories); Organdy Ribbon (JoAnne's)

Tools: Word Window Punch

This is my second post for today, so see below for MSB's weekly challenge.

MSB Challenge #12

The challenge over at Modern Sugar Blvd. this week is to make a shaped card ~ basically anything other than a regular rectangular or square card. I ended up making two different cards.

For the first one I used the "I've Got Style Gal" and put her on a perfume bottle. I think it turned out pretty cute.
This card is also for the following challenges:
Papertake - Pick your Color Combi (Pink, Black, White)
Three Clovers Design - Use Bling (rhinestones, metallic paper and metallic pen)

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: I've Got Style Gal - digi Stamp ~ Modern Sugar Blvd

Embellishments: Flowers (Prima); Black Brad; Self Adhesive Rhinestones (Michael's)

When I first saw the "At The Races" image, I thought this would be perfect for making a shaped card with a bit of altering and here is what I came up with:
This card is also for the following challenges:
Paper Play Challenges- "Boys, Boys, Boys" Make something for a boy

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: At the Races - digi Stamp ~ Modern Sugar Blvd

Modern Sugar Blvd New Releases

Today is a release day over at Modern Sugar Blvd. There are a lot of fun new images and our very first boy image too!

To start off I want to show you our new boy image "Growing Up". I was so excited to see a boy image added to our line (and hope he is the first of many!). I decided to go with an outdoor boy theme as I know my two boys do a lot of exploring outside (they love to look for different bugs and frogs), so I used DCWV "The Green Stack" which was perfect for the feel I was going for.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Growing Up - digi Stamp ~ Modern Sugar Blvd; Sentiment - Technique Tuesday
Ink/Coloring: Memento - Rich Cocoa; Copics (E00, E01, E41, E42, E43, E44, E47, YG91)
Paper: Sahara Sand; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV (The Green Stack)
Embellishments: Twill Ribbon

Tools: CM Cutting System

My second card showcases our new image "Reach". Along with the girl image is the butterfly, which I used, a trio of stars and a twinkle starburst. I wanted to keep the colors of this card softer and chose this DP from Deja Views. I added stickles to the center of the large flower and on the petals of the smaller flowers and enhanced her necklace, bracelet and earring with a Atyou Spica Clear pen, but I just couldn't pick up the shimmer in my pic.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Reach - digi Stamp ~ Modern Sugar Blvd
Ink/Coloring: Copics (E00, E01, R20, RV32, RV34, G21, G24, G12, Y21, Y23, YR12, E31); Atyou Spica Clear pen
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - Deja Views
Embellishments: Flowers (Prima and Imaginisce); Dew Drops; Stickles

Tools: Sizzlits Little Leaves (SU)

And finally is my card using the image "Support Bracelets". As you can see, you are not limited to using this image for bracelets only. When I saw this image the first thing that popped into my head was wedding rings, so I paired the image up with our Champagne Flutes image, and added an Anniversary sentiment (you could use a wedding sentiment as well).

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Support Bracelets and Champagne Flutes~ Digi stamps ~ Modern Sugar Blvd; Sentiment - Computer Generated
Ink/Coloring: Copics (E50, E51, N0); Atyou Spica Clear Pen; Marvy Gel Pen - Gold
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White; Gina K Pure Luxury White
Embellishments: Ribbon (Black)

Tools: Ticket Corner Punch; Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Swiss Dots)

I believe these cards fit a few challenges, but my list isn't currently with me, so I will update that information later.

I hope you enjoyed my preview of the new releases. Head on over to the MSB blog and see all the other fantastic creations from the DT.

Squigglefly Challenge #11

This week our challenge was to use the color purple and to make a gender neutral baby card. Well, since we are picking up a new puppy later this week (and yes, I'll share a few pics of our new "baby"), the only babies on my mind were of the fur variety, thus this card:

I love this Winston and Wendy image. The image does come with hearts in the air around the puppies, but because I knew most of the hearts would have ended up getting cut off (or cut in half), I just deleted them before printing (much easier than masking a rubber stamp!). For the sentiment I used the Key Tag Punch and then just trimmed down the white layer. The flowers have been colored with copics to match the card. And if you are experiencing de'ja vue, yes, I did use this DP on my last blog post ~ I don't have too much in the way of purple DP (and both challenges happend to require the use of purple) so I jsut decided to use it again.

Head on over to the Squigglefly blog and join us in this weeks challenge.

This card is also for the following challenges:

Lili of the Valley
- Use animals
The Pink Elephant - Animals

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Winston and Wendy- digi Stamp ~ Squigglefly; Sentiment ~ Pupstar ~ The Greeting Farm
Ink/Coloring: Copics (BVooo, BV00, BV01, BV02, N0, N2, N4, G21, G24, B000); Lavender Lace
Paper: Lavender Lace; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - unknown

MSB Challenge #11

It's Saturday and time for our weekly challenge at Modern Sugar Blvd. I'm sorry I missed last weeks challenge ~ I had some major printer problems and since these are digi images, I had no way to get an image to use. However, I have gotten things back up and running and here is this weeks challenge....

Dee issued us this challenge: Use the colors of Purple (any shade/s) along with Black and/or White AND also use the following sketch:

Here is my take on this challenge:
The little flowers on the DP were white but they stood out too much, so I colored them in with my BV000 Copic. I moved my "strips" of paper to the edges of the card so the circle could be placed in between them as opposed to over them. The flowers on her purse as well as her earring have been colored over with a Spica clear pen for some added shimmer.

1,000,000 beads

Yes, I really mean one million beads......
A few months ago I entered a contest that Perler Beads was running and figured I would never win due to the sheer number of people entering. Well, last month I was proven wrong. I received a phone call from Perler Beads informing me that I was one of the 4 winners in their 4,000,000 bead giveaway.

Yesterday, here is what UPS delivered to my door.....

The kids couldn't wait to get the boxes inside and had to take a peek....
The kids just had to pose with all the beads on the floor.
Each bag weighs about 5 lbs and there are 28 bags, so that is 140 pounds of beads, wow, that's more than I weigh........

And of course, I couldn't forget to add a picture of the kids getting crafty with Perler Beads.

And guess what I got to do this morning ~ yup, iron a whole bunch of their creations together. The kids have been making things with these beads pretty much all day ~ they love them!

New Releases over at MSB

Wow, it's already Thursday ~ where has this past week gone. I know we have been very busy over here with Trevor's birthday, a lot of celebrations for the 4th, unexpected van repairs and then we also spent a day driving up to look at two puppies (who may soon be a part of our family).

Well anyways, today there are a bunch of new releases over at Modern Sugar Blvd.
Here are the fun images I was given to work with:

Instead of giving her "real" hair color, I decided to go with pink and burgundy highlights. I glittered up her girly guitar and paper pieced her pants. You can't really tell, but I also used stickles on all the pink polka dots to make them sparkly too.

This card is also for the following challenges:
Dare U 2 Digi Stamp which was to use the colors Pink, White and Black.
Papertake which was to use your favorite things ~ which on this card are glitter, the leather trim, the color combo and I this new image.
Simon Says Stamp - Use paper piecing

Ink/Coloring: Copics (E00, E01, R20, RV10, RV11, R59, B24)
Paper: Basic Black, Pretty in Pink; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV (All Dressed Up)
Embellishments: Leather Eyelet Trim (Wrights), Stickles, Metal Rim Tag (Avery)

Tools: Circle Punches

With this image, I wanted to have a serene feel, so I went with this simple DP and a monochromatic color scheme. This paper was a perfect match with Bali Breeze (I'm gonna miss last years in colors!) and to match the flowers I colored the smaller ones with a Copic (BG72).

Paper: Bali Breeze; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP = DCWV (I think from the Baby Boy Nursery collection)
Embellishments: Flowers (Prima); Dew Drops

Tools: Oval Punches and Scallop Oval Punch; Martha Stewart Border Punch

And finally, a whimsical card. I decided to go all spots and dots with this image.

Happy 4th and MSB Challenge #9

Today is time for another challenge over at MSB. This week we were given a choice of using Red, White and Blue -OR- Navy, Cranberry and Ivory along with any 4th of July type MSB image. I chose to use the Doodler USA image with Red, White and Blue.

The background paper I actually made myself by using a star template and sponging the stars in Real Red and Night of Navy ink and after those were done, I sponged over the white areas in the same two colors. Once the paper was covered with red and blue, I sponged over the entire thing with White Craft Ink to tone it down a bit. Since I didn't want to cover up all my hard work ;) I only added ribbon to the card before attaching my main image.

This card is also for the ABC Challenge (U is for United States)

I hope you all have a fantastic 4th! My family and I will be spending time with my parents and our neighbors this weekend ~ grilling out, playing with the kids and watching lots of fireworks!

Squigglefly Blog Hop

Welcome to Squigglefly's blog hop. If you just came across my blog, hop on over to Christy's Blog and start the hop from the beginning ~ I'll be here when you get back. I am told that there will be a few prizes along the way, so keep your eyes open. If you tried to reach my blog during the hop, I apologize, I had this set to auto post at 5:00 am, but once again, Google has failed me (I sure hope Google gets this fixed soon)!

For this card I used the Shared Friendship image. I think this image is adorable and perfect for summer! I printed the image without the sentiment and then I printed the sentiment alone. I punched out the sentiment with my largest SU circle punch and was happy to find out that the largest circle in the Sizzix circles die matted this perfectly. I used my new Martha Stewart butterfly punch and added rhinestones to the center of it as well as on the centers of my flowers.

Your next stop on the hop is with Kim and I'm sure she will have a wonderful project in store for you. After you have finished your hop today, be sure to join in tomorrow for the second day of the hop beginning with Amanda. You will also want to be sure and stop by the Squigglefly blog to register for a chance to win some digi images!

During the month of July, Squigglefly will be donating 50% of all sales in the "
Animals" category to the ASPCA organization. ASPCA removes animals from cruel situations and places them in new and loving homes.

COMING SOON: Squigglefly Rewards. For every $15 you spend in the shop, you can get a free Squigglefly image. There are no restrictions on which images you can pick as your reward - you can even pick sets!

This card is for the following challenges:
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Summer
Cupcake Craft Challenges - Summer (and I'm sad that it is their 2nd from the last challenge)
