KLSNS Challenge #36

Today is my turn to host the challenge over at KLSNS  and since I love sketches so much, I decided to make my challenge a sketch challenge.

And here is my card:
When I designed my sketch, I had planned on using it for a Girl card, and had everything all planned, but since most of my cards lately have been for girls, I decided to make a boy card instead.  For my card I used Willy One Eye from High Hopes Stamps along with a High Hopes sentiment.  Once again I have used papers from Basic Grey's Lime Rickey collection.  I only have a few more pieces of this stack left, but I'll admit I do have another one.....  The image was stamped on the more solid colors from the stack and then paper pieced.  I added crystal effects to his eye as well as the 3 paper circles on the lower right side ~ a quick and easy way to get "brads" in any color you want.  On the embossed circle, I ran an inkpad over the raised areas to add some contrast.

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see what you come up with using my sketch!  Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see the fantastic cards from the rest of the Design Team.

Head on over to the store and pick up this image along with many others for a great price.  Through Monday, June 28th, Kelly is having a clean-up sale where most items storewide are 50% off.  Just use the code "cleanup" during checkout.

Enjoy your weekend :)

ISS Blog Hop

Welcome to the InStyle Stamps blog hop.  You should have arrived here from our Guest Designer Tina, but if not, please head on over to the InStyle Stamps blog and start from the beginning.  When you have completed the hop, you should end up back at InStyle Stamps where we would like you to vote for your favorite project. The DT member that receives the most votes will win a prize AND just for voting you also have the chance to win a prize too!

This month our theme for the hop is PATRIOTIC or Outdoor Activity.
I used the Flag image for my card and colored it in with copics and a silver gel pen.  The background is sponged with two different inks and then I highlighted parts of the fireworks with a silver gel pen and added stickles.  Instead of adding a sentiment, I cut sayings from some Designer Paper and used those instead.  I just had to borrow my daughter's American Girl Star border punch for this one and then added some silver star brads.

I chose this image because we love watching fireworks, and usually get to see them a few times each year.  We are lucky and get to see two major displays in about a week of each other, one being the 4th of July (obviously) and then at a local festival, and I have to say that display is just as good as the one on the 4th.

Do you love InStyle Stamps?  Would you like to be on a Design Team?  If your answer is yes, we are currently holding a Design Team call, so please check out this post for more information.

Remember....to receive an automatic 5% discount on your purchases, please be sure to go through this link InStyle Stamps.

Well, your next stop on the hop is Kerry and I'm sure she has something amazing to share with you.

Have a wonderful day :)

Your Next Stamp Challenge #19

Happy Wednesday!   Today is time for another challenge over at Your Next Stamp.  Amy is hosting this one and she challenged us to use printed or patterned ribbon on our creation.

Today I used the Wedding Fhiona single which happens to be one of the new releases for June.  I followed the sketch over at Card Patterns, which happens to be a favorite of mine and one I have used variations of many times before.  The image was colored with copics and then I added stickles to the tiara part of her veil and then gave her some pearl earrings.  I added pearls all along the scalloped border and then a few colored pearls are scattered on the black and white papers.  I don't have much ribbon on here ~ only through the buttons on the larger flowers, but it is a black organdy with pink polka dots.  Too bad I don't know anyone getting married ~ I really like how this one turned out!

We'd love to have you join us in our "Ribbon" challenge so head on over to the Your Next Stamp blog for all the details ~ it is a two week challenge so there is plenty of time to play along!  You

In addition to Card Patterns, I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Charisma Cardz - "All about Bling"
Meljen's - Fibers, Ribbons or Lace
Paper Play - "Something Old" - the DP is old
Crazy 4 Challenges - Paper Flowers - puchased or punched (Prima's)
One Stitch at a Time - "Seeing Double" - use two of anything
The Corrosive Challenge - "Black, White and one other color (Pink)"
The Pink Elephant - Pink and Black"
Our Daily Bread - Flower Recipe - used flowers, circle shape embellies (pearls), wedding, ribbon
Aly's - "Flower Power"
Practical Scrappers - Flowers
Fun with Shapes - "Flowery"
Cow Girl Sunday - Anything Goes

The kids have been enjoying the warmer days this week (what a welcome from early last weeks weather) and spending a lot of time in the pool, which means I have been outside a lot this week with them.  Doesn't leave much time for crafting, but when I'm not in the pool with them, I have been making some of the lace flowers like I used on the card posted prior to this one, and have also gotten a lot of reading in.   Speaking of weather, we had some major storms come through Monday night and we were lucky ~ we only had heavy rains, but some in surrounding counties didn't fare so well, they had strong winds, causing a lot of damage and some lost homes to tornadoes.  That is the one thing I hate about this time of year.

Today should be another nice day, so I'm sure I will be enjoying it with the kids!

Have wonderful day :)

KLSNS Challenge #35

Well, the weather held out for us and we finally made it Strawberry picking on Thursday ~ we do this every year and the kids love it ~ the really nice thing is that it's only a few minutes away. The kids were a bit bummed that the ice cream stand was closed when we were finished, so I think we will just head up there again this weekend for some yummy strawberry sundaes!

Today it's time for our weekly challenge at KLSNS  and Debbie challenged us to get Shabby.  Now when I think of Shabby, I think of girly, distressing, lace, pearls and that sort of thing, although I also think the same for Vintage (but not necessarily girly), so I don't know if I'm right or not, but here is my card:

I used a CC Designs image, Puppy Kiki, colored her in with copics and then sponged the oval.  After that I used the cracked glass technique on this to fit the theme (at least my take of it).  All papers were sponged and the some were also distressed.  The lace was from a box of vintage laces I purchased awhile back and I used it to make the flower as well ~ I thought it looked better with this than a prima.  The pearl pin is a vintage one and I added two vintage beads to it.  This card took an entirely different direction than I originally anticipated, but I am really pleased with the end result.

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see your take on Shabby cards.    Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see some wonderful eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.

ISS OTHBCGA

It is time for another InStyle Stamps "Over the Hump Blog Candy Giveaway".  Since June is a time for graduations, that is our theme for this month's challenge.

My youngest son "graduated" from Kindergarten this year ~ I can't believe how fast they really do grow up.   So for my graduation card I chose Johnny and colored him to look like Trevor.  To personalize this even more, I made the background paper using the school logo and of course the school colors.  Brilliant Blue from SU is the school color for my kids, and it will be all through high school, so I am really going to miss this one ~ I don't know why they had to retire it.  If you know of a good substitute, please let me know.

We'd love to see what you come up with for the grads in your life, so go visit the InStyle Stamps blog to link your project for a chance to win a fantastic prize.

Remember by shopping through this link: InStyle Stamps you will receive an automatic 5% discount on any stamp purchase you make.

It looks like today is going to be a great day so I think we are off to go strawberry picking ~ the last two days have been rainy so we haven't been able to go.

ISS Color Challenge

It is time for InStyle Stamps monthly Color Challenge.  This month we were given this photo of Heirloom Tomatoes to use for our color inspiration:

And here is my interpretation of these colors:
For my card I used the Sand Bucket image and it was really fun to work with.  I colored it with my copics and then sponged the clouds onto the panel to make a little summer scene.  For the sentiment I used a poinsettia nestie to make it look like a sun and sponged around the white circle.  The papers are from the K & Co Citronella Collection and thought these were not only a good match for the color challenge, but gave a great summertime feel to this card.

We'd love to see what you come up with for our color challenge so head on over to the InStyle Stamps blog for further details and for some more inspiration from the rest of the design team.

KLSNS Challenge #34

Today is the first full day of summer vacation for my kids ~ I am so excited to have them home all day!  Since it is Saturday it is also time for our weekly challenge at KLSNS  and Jacilynn challenged us to make a Girlie Birthday card.  I was worried I wouldn't get this post ready in time as I was having all kinds of problems accessing blogger (I couldn't even get into my Google Reader), but it is finally up and working for me again.
Since almost all the Girlie cards I make have girls on them and usually flowers, I decided to really challenge myself and use some other type of image and no flowers.  I chose this bear from the CC Designs set Rockin Out and paired it up with some papers from the Basic Grey Lime Rickey collection.  The image was colored in copics and cut out.  I added stickles to the star around her eye, the guitar, the two punched stars and in the stars on the punched panel.  I added dots with a silver metallic pen on the card base, on the large pink star and on the scalloped oval around the sentiment.

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see your Girlie Birthday cards.  Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see some wonderful eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.

Your Next Stamp Challenge #18

Back again today with the current challenge over at Your Next Stamp.  Simonne is hosting for this one and she challenged us to use buttons on our creation.
Today I decided to use the Yippee Fhiona set, and you can get a mini version of her as well since she is one of the new mini Fhiona's that were released the other day.   I colored her with copics and added a flower button to her headband.  Once again I used the DeLovely papers from Cosmo Cricket ~ sure hope you aren't getting sick of these yet because I will definitely be using them again!  The other buttons I used were for the center of the flower and then on each end of the sentiment.  I used the Bow Easy to make the satin bow, however I'm not really sure why the ribbon looks so funny in this picture.....

I am thinking that I may give this card to one of my daughter's on the last day of school.  Only 2 1/2 more days left.  Alicia is quite sad that school is almost over, as she really loves it.  The other 3 kids are ready for it.  I really can't believe how busy the last two weeks of school are!  I was on an all day Field Trip to Old World Wisconsin with Alicia's class last Thursday ~ we haven't been there in quite some time, so it was nice going back, and I think we will be taking our kids over the summer ~ preferably for Laura Ingalls Wilder Days.  Friday was Trevor's spotlight day in class so that morning I had to make Brownies and then head over to school to  spend time with his class and then had lunch with the kids.  Monday and Tuesday Alicia had her class play, and of course I had to go to each performance.  Being on the DI team this year has really helped her overcome her fear of performing in front of others and she did fantastic.  Her role was Princess Isabella, so each night before bed, I had to put her hair in rollers so it was nice and curly for the play.  Right after the play Monday morning, I went on a Field Trip to the park with Trevor's class that was for the rest of the day.  Tyler went on a Field Trip to a different park to meet their pen pals ~ thank goodness it was a beautiful day since Tuesday ended up cold and rainy!  I "think" I have a break tomorrow from School activities but Thursday it's back to school all day for "Field Day".

We'd love to have you join us in our "Button" challenge so head on over to the Your Next Stamp blog for all the details ~ it is a two week challenge so there is plenty of time to play along!

Have wonderful day :)

Your Next Stamp Blog Hop

Welcome to the Your Next Stamp Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from  Kerri's blog, but if not, please head back to Cabio's blog to start from the beginning.

For my card I used Make a Wish from the Dale Designs collection.  When I saw this set I thought this girl was just adorable and couldn't wait to use her (and we have a few girl birthday's coming up in the near future, so what great timing!   I decided to paper piece her dress as well as the stool cushion and tablecloth and just added a bit of subtle shadowing with my copic markers.  I added stickles to her hair bow, the icing on the cake and her shoes.

Be sure to leave a comment on each stop along the way as someone will win $50 in new release stamps of their choice!  The winner will be chosen from a randomly drawn comment on one of the Starlet's blogs, but we don't know who it is.  The blog hop ends Sunday, June 13th at midnight EST.

Your next stop is Maylee and I'm sure she has something amazing to share with you.

Your Next Stamp Preview Day 2

I'm back today with another new release for Your Next Stamp.  Today there are 5 new nature inspired designs as well as an Elegant greeting set and they are fantastic!

For today's preview I got to use Branch Tree  along with Elegant Greetings.  No coloring needed on this image which makes for a nice change!  After stamping the image I added little pearls to the double leaves on the tree.  I thought that this paper from the DCWV Farmer's Market stack was a great match for this image, but since it is rather busy, I did not add much in the way of embellishments.  The side panel was punched with an EK Success punch and then I added some pearls as well as some satin ribbon.  A quick and easy elegant card.

So are you ready to see some more projects with these new images?  Head on over to the Your Next Stamp blog and check out all the fantastic projects.  Stop back on the 8th for the New Release Blog Hop ~ you don't want to miss this one!

ISS Sketch Challenge - SC10

I can't believe it is already June!  Pretty soon the kids will be all done with school and things will definitely be different around here ~ but I am excited because I love having them home!  We have been having fantastic weather lately ~ sunny and warm ~ and it is definitely a welcome change!   Today we have our monthly sketch challenge at InStyle Stamps and this is the sketch we were given:

And here is my version of it:

For my card today I used Tiffany.  Can you believe I didn't use any designer papers on this one?  Well I know that I had the perfect paper that I wanted to use for this, but cannot find it anywhere (I am thinking that one of my kids liked it and decided to use it), so I went a different route and embossed some textured cardstock (which I then sanded) and used that in place of designer paper.  I think I will need to pick up some more white core paper ~ I had always used SU cardstock, but since the color goes through, you can't sand it and get this effect.

Please stop by and visit the rest of the Design Team to see how they interpreted this sketch (the links are on the left side of my blog).   We'd love to have you join in our challenge this month so head on over to the  InStyle Stamps blog for further details.

Remember by shopping through this link: InStyle Stamps you will receive an automatic 5% discount on any stamp purchase you make.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Your Next Stamp Preview

I have some exciting news!  This month I am a Guest Designer for Your Next Stamp ~ I am thrilled to be working with Karen, Simonne and the other girls this month and know it will be a lot of fun!  Today there are 10 new releases ~ all single Fhiona images and I get to show you one of them.

I got to use Flower Bouquet Fhiona and I think she is just so cute!  I colored her with copics and added some stickles to parts of the image, the flowers and some of the papers.  As you can see, I went with an all out flower theme, using a flower nestie for a mat, a flower border punch, flower embellishments, that fun felt trim and those fabulous DeLovely papers ~ I LOVE these bright colors.  I colored the blue flowers and all the rhinestones with copics to match my card ~ one of the many things I love about those markers.

So are you ready to see some more projects with these new images?  Head on over to the Your Next Stamp blog and check out all the fantastic projects.  I will be back in a few days with another new release to show you and mark your calendars for the 8th, we will have a New Release Blog Hop that you don't want to miss!
