Squigglefly Challenge #27

Today's challenge over at Squigglefly is to use the following sketch.

And here is what I came up with:

I've had the DCWV Pet Stack for quite some time and I don't think I even used one of the papers in this pack yet, so I decided to pull them out and pair it up with these cute kittens. Since the patterned paper is quite busy on it's own, I just added a chocolate ribbon and some chocolate pearls (and why didn't I buy more than one pack of this color!?!)  As I was putting my card together, I decided that I didn't like the image on stark white paper, so I ended up coloring it with my E40 and E41 copics ~ easy fix!

We'd love to have you play along with this week's challenge!

If you haven't been over to Squigglefly lately, you have to go and check out the wonderful new images for the Holidays.  There is also something new on the site called "Nab It".  Every day an image will be posted at a special low price, but the number available for purchase at this price will be limited, so you have to act quick.

Recipe ~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps:   Three Cat Pile Up (digi image) Squigglefly
Ink/Coloring: Copics (E31, E33, E35, E40, E41, N0, N2, N3, N4, N6, T0)
P
aper: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV (Pet Stack)

Squigglefly Challenge #25

Today's challenge over at Squigglefly is to make a Gatefold card.

For this card I chose Teddy Bear-ing Gifts as my main image ~ another cutie from Chrissy Armstrong.  I wanted to use my scallop punches and have the balloons stick outside of the punch.  The tricky part was trying to maneuver the balloons outside of the punch enough so the scallop came right up to the edge, but I finally did it.  I used ribbon to tie my card shut, but you could overlap your images (tucking one behind the other) add a magnetic clasp or little velcro tab under the main image, or even use a photo turn.

Stop on by and join the Squigglefly challenge this week.  Remember, each week, on lucky participant is chosen to win two free images ~ it could be you.

This card is for the following challenges as well:
Allsorts - Furry Friend
Crazy 4 Challenges - 3 different geometric shapes (Circle, Oval, Rectangle)
One Stop Craft Challenge - Celebrations

Recipe ~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps:   Teddy Bear-ing Gifts (digi image) Squigglefly; Sentiment - Studio G

Shy Bear for Fall

Just a quick post before I head off to the kids' school for "Family Fall Fest".

This image is one of Shy Bear ~ isn't he cute.  Insetad of coloring the flowers in pinks or purples, which would have been my "go-to" colors, I decided to make this a fall card and went with orangey-yellow flowers and a terra cotta color planter.  I am quite happy with how it turned out, so I guess it does pay to step outside of your comfort zone.

This card is for the following challenges:
A Spoonful of Sugar - Sketch (love it and will be using it again)
Creative Belli - Fall or Thanksgiving with a Leaf
Gingersnap Creations - GS27 - Green, Brown, Orange
TCP Tuesday - Inspiration challenge - chose the colors
KL Stampin n' Scrappin - Fall color
Crafty Cardmakers - Autumn
Hand Full of Stamps - Layers, layers, layers

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Autumn (optional extra plants or vegetation)

Squigglefly Preview

Welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for Squigglefly's newest images!

Here is a sneak peek of "Dinner Bell". When I saw this image I immediately thought of Christmas. I embossed the white scalloped circle and then colored the raised dots with an Old Olive SU marker. I am still too much of a chicken to sew for real on my cards, so faux stitching it was for the two layered panels. The buttons I found digging through my decorative button stash and they were the "purr-fect" touch to this card.

This month we had two new artists join the Squigglefly team ~ Cheryl Alger and Eline Pelinkhoff (whose image I used for my card). Both of these ladies are extremely talented and we know you're going to love their images as much as we do!

Our other artists have been working hard to bring you images that will certainly spark your creativity too. The images you will be seeing over the next few days will be available for purchase on Saturday, October 17th. Be sure to check out the Design Team's blogs (you can find the links on the right side of my blog) over the next few days to see lots of fantastic sneak peeks using these wonderful new images!

Now are you ready for some fun? Somewhere on Squigglefly's site, there is a button that looks like this:
You will need to find the button and then head on over to Holly's blog and leave her a comment telling where you found it. You will have until Saturday to find the button and leave your comment. On that same day, a FIVE random winners will be chosen out of all the correct entries. Each winner will receive two images of their choice! You can pick one of the fabulous new images, or a favorite that you've been meaning to get. So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Squigglefly and begin your search!

This card is also for the following challenges:

Squigglefly Challenge #23

It's Monday and that means it's time for another challenge over at Squigglefly. Our challenge this week is to make a Halloween card, use paper in black, purple and orange, use at least 1 sheet of DP and include an embellishment of a bat, crow or spider.
Instead of using an image intended for Halloween, I chose to use the one from the Shared Friendship image. On the black cardstock, I rubbed my Palette New Canvas ink pad over it to make it appear to be a night sky. I punched out a circle for the moon and colored it with my E40 copic and then added two bats with their wings bent forward. Yes, I know the paper looks really familiar ~ but it was out, it worked with the card and I like it, so easy choice LOL!

If you would like to play along this week there is a freebie witch image over on the Squigglefly challenge blog that you can use. Also, if you play along this week, after you have linked your card on the challenge, head on over to Holly's blog. and link your card there as well to be entered into a drawing to win a brand new set of Spellbinders Impressabilities!

Check back later in the week as there are more exciting things going on at Squigglefly!

Autumn Puppies

I have been missing a lot lately. Unfortunately it was due to my computer (that of course was connected to the internet). I ended up replacing the computer and finally got up and running again over the weekend (although I still haven't got my networking figured out yet and think a call into the Geek Squad will be needed....).

Anyways, what better way to come back than to create a card for multiple challenges!

This image is another one that Crissy Armstrong created for Squigglefly. I just love these adorable puppies! I had printed the image on white paper, and decided I didn't want the stark white of it so I colored it with my E000 copic just to change it a bit.

This card is for the following challenges:

Stamp TV - Create your own shimmering background paper
Roses on Paper - Choose a sketch from a challenge blog and use the colors orange, brown and green
Sketch and Stash - Sketch
Copic Creations - Coloring Pumpkins

Shy Bear - Squigglefly

Five of the Squigglefly's design team have shy bear hiding out on their blogs. If you can find all five, go leave a comment on Holly's blog listing which five blogs you found them on. Monday (Sept 28th) afternoon one lucky person will be chosen by random.org, and if that commenter has all five blogs listed they will get to choose two of the new shy bear images and will also receive some goodies from Holly's stash. Happy hunting!

Squigglefly Blog Hop

Welcome to the Squigglefly blog hop! If you just came across my post, please start over at Squigglefly and I'll be here when you return.

Today all of the DT members are showcasing images from Squigglefly's brand new illustrator Crissy Armstrong ~ aren't her images amazing!?! If you've seen High Hopes Stamps, her work may look familiar to you, as she was an illustrator for them. With so many wonderful images it was hard to narrow down which to use, so I ended up doing two cards.

First up is Roger and Jo ~ aren't they the most adorable little kitties ever!?!

I kept this card pretty simple as I wanted the image to stand out, and love how the charm looks in place of a sentiment stamp.

Next we have "Turkey" ~ I think he is so cute sitting there in his wagon amidst all those apples!
I had a lot of fun making this card. For the flower I tried something different. The button on top has a metal circle loop on the back back (did I mention it is really little?) and I threaded the ribbon through the loop three times to make it look like a bow (and let me tell you the third time through was difficult ~ it's a good thing I started with a really long piece of ribbon because the ends were shredded by the time I was done).

So do you love these images as much as I do? If your answer is YES, be sure to stop by and comment on all the DT members blogs, because one lucky winner will receive all 13 of Crissy's new images as well as some things from her personal stash that she generously donated. So what are you waiting for, get hopping and head on over to Stef ~ I'm sure she has something amazing to share with you!

If you get lost on the way, here is the master list of all the hop participants:

Squiggle Fly Challenge #19 and MSB update

It's Monday and that means another challenge over at Squigglefly. The challenge this week is to make a card with a Mellow Moss background, use no embellishments AND make your card 5x5. When I wrote down the challenge, I completely missed the size requirment ~ oops ~ and the ironic thing is, that for the most part, my cards are usually square (although I prefer 5 1/2 x 5 1/2). But no, this time I had to go and make a "normal size" card.

I have come to the conclusion that I need to invest in some more nesties one of these days. I only have two sets ~ the rectangles and scalloped rectangles which don't give me a whole lot of options ~ especially when I want circles and ovals on my card. Now only if I didn't have all these other bills.....

Come and play along with our challenge this week ~ we'd love to see what you come up with!

Please check back in with me on Friday as I will be taking part in the Squigglefly blog hop. We will be showcasing the new images being released on Saturday the 19th and you will also have a chance to win a grand prize that includes all 13 new images. Providing all goes well, I may even have a sneek peek or 2 for you before then....

This card also qualifies for the following challenges:
Charisma Cardz - Patchwork
Crafty Creations - Embossing
Cute Card Thursday - "Strawberry Mint Julep" - pink and green
My Time to Craft - "Polka Dot Party" - anything with dots or spots

Just a quick update on Modern Sugar Blvd. We were taking a little break, and will be back in full force with some brand new DT members! I am currently working with two new images that are scheduled to be released on Sunday and will be able to show these to you later in the week.

Squigglefly Challenge #17

This weeks challenge over at Squigglefly is to create a shaped card. I wanted to make a card shaped like a Dr. Bag, but it looked more like a purse, so I scrapped that idea and instead went with the round First Aid symbol for the card.

I tried putting on some embellishments, but then you couldn't see the symbol too well, so I decided to forgo them. The white card is adhered to the black matting (which does go around completely), but when I was trying to take a picture of it, it kept opening up just enough to hide the black on the left side.

Stop on by and join us in this weeks challenge :)

Squigglefly's Digi Days Challenges

Squigglefly has just released a bunch of fun new images perfect for the upcoming holidays! I've got my eye on the Sara in Love image ~ it is too cute! On Friday "Digi Day" was on SF's yahoo group and then yesterday it was on SF's SNR Card Universe group. There were 5 challenges in all, and I could only get around to 3 of them.

The first challenge was to create a card and get the most points using this point scale:
10 points - use a Squigglefly image
5 points - use a Squigglefly saying/sentiment
5 points - use the color blue
5 points - use the color purple
5 points - put a tag on the card
5 points - use a flower/embellishment

I hit them all with this card.

The next challenge was to use the colors Black, Orange, Purple and Glitter. Well to me that says Halloween, well in this case Howloween.....
I don't have any Halloween images from Squigglefly, so I improvised and used the owl from the Shared Friendship image. Notice that drippy goo punched paper? My Michael's had them and quite promptly sold out, but I was told they were getting another shipment in and I finally got one of these ~ it only took a year. Hopefully I'll get just as lucky with that lace heart punch for Valentine's Day.

The last challenge I completed was to use the colors Green, Red and Gold. So of course I thought of Christmas and came up with this:

I colored the lighter colors of his fur with a white gel pen to add a bit of texture and after it was dry, I then colored over the top of it with my E31 copic). The bells on his collar are colored in with a gold gel pen. I would have loved to add a few real jingle bells to this card, but can't seem to find them at the moment (I know I have some somewhere....). The layout of this card may look familiar to you, since it is from a card I shared a bit a go, but I really love this layout. I wrapped gold cording around the larger panels to look like presents. Slowly but surely I am getting some of my holiday cards out of the way.

Squigglefly Challenge #11

This week our challenge was to use the color purple and to make a gender neutral baby card. Well, since we are picking up a new puppy later this week (and yes, I'll share a few pics of our new "baby"), the only babies on my mind were of the fur variety, thus this card:

I love this Winston and Wendy image. The image does come with hearts in the air around the puppies, but because I knew most of the hearts would have ended up getting cut off (or cut in half), I just deleted them before printing (much easier than masking a rubber stamp!). For the sentiment I used the Key Tag Punch and then just trimmed down the white layer. The flowers have been colored with copics to match the card. And if you are experiencing de'ja vue, yes, I did use this DP on my last blog post ~ I don't have too much in the way of purple DP (and both challenges happend to require the use of purple) so I jsut decided to use it again.

Head on over to the Squigglefly blog and join us in this weeks challenge.

This card is also for the following challenges:

Lili of the Valley
- Use animals
The Pink Elephant - Animals

Squigglefly Blog Hop

Welcome to Squigglefly's blog hop. If you just came across my blog, hop on over to Christy's Blog and start the hop from the beginning ~ I'll be here when you get back. I am told that there will be a few prizes along the way, so keep your eyes open. If you tried to reach my blog during the hop, I apologize, I had this set to auto post at 5:00 am, but once again, Google has failed me (I sure hope Google gets this fixed soon)!

For this card I used the Shared Friendship image. I think this image is adorable and perfect for summer! I printed the image without the sentiment and then I printed the sentiment alone. I punched out the sentiment with my largest SU circle punch and was happy to find out that the largest circle in the Sizzix circles die matted this perfectly. I used my new Martha Stewart butterfly punch and added rhinestones to the center of it as well as on the centers of my flowers.

Your next stop on the hop is with Kim and I'm sure she will have a wonderful project in store for you. After you have finished your hop today, be sure to join in tomorrow for the second day of the hop beginning with Amanda. You will also want to be sure and stop by the Squigglefly blog to register for a chance to win some digi images!

During the month of July, Squigglefly will be donating 50% of all sales in the "
Animals" category to the ASPCA organization. ASPCA removes animals from cruel situations and places them in new and loving homes.

COMING SOON: Squigglefly Rewards. For every $15 you spend in the shop, you can get a free Squigglefly image. There are no restrictions on which images you can pick as your reward - you can even pick sets!

This card is for the following challenges:
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Summer
Cupcake Craft Challenges - Summer (and I'm sad that it is their 2nd from the last challenge)

Squigglefly Challenge #7

This weeks challenge over at Squigglefly is the "outside the box" technique ~ which simply put is to cut your image panel smaller than your image (without cutting through your image) and cut around the image where it sticks outside the "box". I have seen this done numerous times, but just never attempted it myself ~ now that I have I will definitely be doing this again.

I decided to incoporate some paper piercing to this card just to add some more interest since I kept the embellishments fairly simple.

Stamps: Turtle Taxi - Squigglefly; Sentiment - Small Sayings
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (YR02, Y00, BV20, BV23, G82, G94)
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Barely Banana, Bordering Blue, Certainly Celery; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - Paper Pizazz
Embellishments: Dew Drops

Tools: Circle Punches; Key Tag Punch, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

This card also makes number five for me for the following challenges this week: Cute Daisy Mae challenge for using circles and the Stamp with Fun challenge for using Dots.

Squigglefly Challenge #5

It is Monday and that means it is time for a challenge over on the Squigglefly blog ~ stop on by and play along with us!

This was my very first challenge as a DT member for Squigglefly, so I couldn't wait to get started! The challenge was to use the colors Pink Pirouette, Pacific Point and Kiwi Kiss and to also incorporate a button into the project.

Now I love Pink Pirouette and Pacific Point, but I don't think I have touched Kiwi Kiss since I got it, so I wasn't sure how this would play out until I came across this Basic Grey paper ~ I loved how it looked with the Kiwi Kiss and the rest just fell into place. The turtle has eyeshadow and nail polish thanks to my sakura stardust pen and the spots on the turtle have been colored over with my spica clear pen ~ in person it is so nice and shimmery.
I really wanted to take a picture of this one outside, but the weather just didn't cooperate with me these past few days......so hopefully you can see some of the shimmer on here.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Turtle Taxi - Squigglefly; Sentiment - Amy R Friend Sentiments (CC Designs)
