Take a Bow with Deconstructed Sketches

It's been awhile since I posted a project, but I have been working on them.  I have been doing the weekly HeArt Journaling with The Greeting Farm, but just have not shared them here....perhaps I will get busy and start adding those.  But for now, I have a card to share with you.

Christmas already....yep, I decided to get a little bit of a head start this year.  For my card I used the sketch at Deconstructing Sketches.  At first the triangle shape intimidated me, but I really like how it turned out.

The image is Take a Bow from Tiddly Inks ~ I love Christy's images ~ they are just so cute and fun to color.  The challenge over at Tiddly Inks is to use paint so I used some shimmerz paint on the flowers.  The papers are from the Tinsel and Twigs Collection from The Girls Paperie ~ these are some of my favorite holiday papers and am kicking myself for not buying more of them at the time.  The lace trim and ribbon were pulled out of my vintage trim collection.

Looking forward to Monday...DI Season begins for the Elementary level!  I am managing two teams there....Hold It (Structural challenge) and Built to Last (Rising Stars).  I am excited to see what the kids have prepared for their tryouts.  The Middle School has to wait until November, but that will be here before we know it.  There I am managing Coming Attractions (Fine Arts challenge).  I am really excited to be starting another DI season and can't wait to see how the kids decide to solve their challenges.

Well, the weather here is beautiful, so I am off to enjoy it for a bit with the kids.

Have a great day!

Happy Birthday ♥Alicia♥

Today was my oldest daughter Alicia's birthday...wow, I can't believe she is already 11 years old.  She is smart, talented and growing into such a wonderful young lady and I am proud to be her mom ♥ I love you sweetheart!  Tonight we celebrated her birthday with the family ~ us and then my parents and my brother.  On the kids birthday's we let them pick whatever they want for dinner and Alicia's choice was Cousins Subs ~ I have to say that I love their subs and their Broccoli Cheese soup (not to mention that I didn't have to do any cooking) so I was happy.  After dinner we had some delicious cake from our favorite baker (marble with buttercream frosting) and then it was time for the presents.  OK now for the card....

Yesterday I had Alicia pick out a few of her favorite images and I went with the Tuesday Creeper for her card~ my first time using the Creepers and boy are they fun!  The paper I used is actually digital paper from Tiddly Inks (and this was my first time using digi paper as well).  I stamped a large flourish stamp on the right side of the heart paper in gray and then colored over it with a Spica clear pen.  The edges of the cardstock and her "eyeshadow" were also colored with the same Spica pen ~ it took awhile to color the cardstock, but the shimmer it has in real life made it worth it.  The bottom has three layers of scalloped tulle and then a silver organdy ribbon along with a trio of pearls.  On the image panel, I used the distressed stripes folder, sanded it and then sponged it with gray.  The sentiment was computer generated and I then colored it with R21, T0, T1 and 0 to mimic the heart paper colors.  As a final touch I added one of my precious rhinestone swirls ~ I have a few of these, but because they really are not cheap, I hate to use them unless I know the card will be cherished and I know in this case I have nothing to worry about ~ she absolutely loved it! :)

Here is a close up showing the shimmer a little better:
I hope to head into the craft room again this week, but I am swamped with appointments and Girl Scout events through Sunday.  And here I thought once the kids were back in school I'd have all kinds of free time.....maybe next week.

Since I have to post while it is still her Birthday, I will come back and update the challenges I want to enter this card into.

OK...after a bit of picking and choosing (to remain at 10 total challenges), I am entering the following:
Nutty Nutshells - "Pretty in Pink"
Southern Girls - "Anything Goes"
Stamp and Create - "Pearls and Gems"
One Stop Craft Challenge - "Fashion Throughout the Years"
Aly's Sunday Challenge - "Sparkle and Glitter"
Club Anya and Friends - Case this card:  My notes...In place of the musical notes I stamped the flourish stamp on my paper.  The rhinestone swirl replaces the butterfly, the sentiment replaces the circle with the 8, the ribbon "bow" replaces the flower and the scalloped layers of tulle replace the torn paper layers
Pear Tree Designs - "Pink"
Our Daily Bread - "Make Your Creations Sparkle"
Scrap Creations - "Gotta Go Digi" - digi paper and digi sentiment
Paper Sundaes - Minimum of 3 embellishments - Organdy, Tulle, Rhinestones, Pearls

Halloween is Hoppin' at Tiddly Inks

When I heard that Tiddly Inks was having a Halloween Blog Hop I knew I had to join in since I really love Christy's images.  The list of all hop participants can be found on the Tiddly Inks challenge blog

I chose Batty to use for my card. I colored the image with copics and tried a different way to color black hair.  The "flower" was made with some tulle I had left over from my wedding ~  way back when ~ and then I added a purple button and some organdy to the center.  I pulled out the sewing machine once again and stitched the two larger panels with a zig zag stitch.  I had this zipper trim for awhile and thought it would be a fun addition.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
The Sweet Stop - sketch
Creative Inspirations - Use the oldest thing in your stash (well the tulle definitely is that ~ 13 years old, and I actually forgot all about it until I looked through my fabric basket)
One Stitch at a Time - "Digi Madness" - use a digi image
Paper Sundaes - Make your Own Flowers
Stamp and Create - "Stitching"
Dare U 2 Digi Stamp - "Stitching"
Crazy 4 Challenges - "Buttons"
Stamp Something - "Something Digital"

Have a wonderful day!

Flowers for you

This morning I decided to play along with Tiddly Inks challenge - "Make It Match".  This is an easy one for me since I always try to match my colors to my papers, or paper piece with some of the same papers.  In this case I just used the colors from the Designer Papers for the vases and the flowers.  I had colored the centers of the flowers to match the way they are on the paper, but since they have little black dots in them, it is hard to see that.  This was a really quick card to put together, especially since I already had the image colored and had the paper picked out ~ all just sitting in a pile waiting to be put together.  Since this is such a bright vivid card, I didn't use any embellishments, but I did put the image on dimensionals

I also followed the sketch over at Taylored Expressions.  I really liked the sketch this week and will be using it again.

I am not getting much crafting done this week.  We have been really busy since Friday, spending the entire weekend at the fair ~ and we did get to see fireworks again ~ good thing they were on Friday night, because both Saturday and Sunday, we got rained on at the fair!  Then there were doctor appointments, play dates, swimming ~ just lots of running! Right now the girls are at their Ummy and Grandpa's house ~ they went over there last night and will be coming home sometime tomorrow ~ wow, it sure is different with only two kids at home.  I really miss the girls, but I know they are having a lot of fun.  So, it's just me and the boys today ~ off to make some cookies and then head out to go miniature golfing (although going into the pool sounds better to me ~ it is really hot and humid today).  Tomorrow my parents are taking all 4 kids to the movie, which would normally mean guilt free craft time for me, but unfortunately I'll be at the dentist while they are enjoying the movie.  Afterwards we will all be off to dinner and then swimming since we promised the kids we would go back to the pool (where they have their swim lessons) on Friday night.

Have a wonderful day!
