Today is the day of my Alicia and Ashley's DI competition and I want to wish them, their teams and the other teams at their school "Good Luck". I have seen both of my girls teams run through their skits and as long as they do today for the judges what they did for us, they will be great! No matter what the outcome is, DI has been a wonderful experience for them, and they have learned a lot.
Today also brings us the weekly challenge at KLSNS. This week Kristine challenged us to be "All Boxed In" and create either a box or a basket. I saw these woven baskets a few weeks ago and thought I'd give it a try, and while it is a bit time consuming, it isn't all that hard to do, and the end result is beautiful, besides, with Easter coming up, it was the perfect project!
I decided to use this adorable Sugarplum image from the CC Designs Sugarplums Spring Kit . I colored her with what other than copics (and for those of you wondering, no I still did not find my BG05 marker (or the other two missing items)...and it is driving me nuts ~ I have looked everywhere and even went through the garbage can...nothing. The image was cut with nesties, and then I added some stickles to her apron and the eggs, and a little purple pearl for the button of her shoe.

Since Easter is just around the corner, it is fitting that the theme for our hop this month is none other than EASTER!
For my Easter Treat box, I used the adorable Honey Bunny image. I couldn't leave this bunny all alone, so I just had to add a few chicks using the chick from the Teacup with Chick image (and isn't that chick a great match for that Designer Paper?!?). It still didn't look complete to me and since Easter Egg hunts are an annual tradition at our house it just seemed fitting that I add a few Easter Eggs in the grass.

Today was my turn to host the challenge at KLSNS. Since today is the first day of Spring ~ although I think Wisconsin may have missed the memo because it is snowing and looks more like the first day of winter than the first day of spring (what happened to the beautiful weather we had just earlier this week?) ~ and National Quilting Day, I decided to combine the two and came up with today's challenge of Flowers and Stitching (either real or faux).
I used some of the adorable Sugarplums from the CC Designs Sugarplums Spring Kit and colored them with copics. This particular paper from the Basic Grey Lemonade pack reminded me of a quilt, so I took it a step further and stitched it to look like squares of fabric. Since this paper is quite busy, I kept the embellishments to a bare minumum, just adding flowers to the grass.

It is day 4 of Wedding Week at InStyle Stamps. Each day we have been previewing new images that will be available after the redesign of the sites and blogs are complete. Today the spotlight is on Mylie:
I just love her! For this card I decided to go pink and somewhat elegant. I colored the image with copics, using a very pale pink for her dress and added Shimmerz on the bodice and along the bottom. I put some white paper behind the lace border so the flowers stood out and then added some pearls to the center. I was playing around with different shapes to use behind Mylie and really wasn't happy with any of them so I decided to try something new. I used two embossed scalloped ovals ~ and I really like how that turned out. Since I wanted Mylie to be the main focus, I just added two organdy bows with pearls in the center and a strip of organdy ribbon down the side.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today InStyle Stamps has another "Over the Hump Blog Candy Giveaway" for you. This month we were asked to use the colors green and yellow. Well, after my last card, you all know I don't have a lot of DP with green, but add some other colors to the mix, and I'm good to go.
Green and yellow just screamed Spring to me, so I used this cute Teacup with Chick image (and for those of you that just want the teacup, you can get the Teacup without Chick image) and of course there is a really cute matching Teapot image as well. Speaking of spring, I am loving the warmer weather we've been having and so have the kids. Now I can't wait until the flowers start blooming!

This is my second post for the day.
This week InStyle Stamps has a color challenge over at Club Anime.
We were given the following photo for our inspiration ~ isn't this bead work just gorgeous!?!
And here is my card:
For my card I used Tricia and Renee ~ they remind me of my two daughters, so I had to color the hair accordingly. The image was colored with copics and I used the blender pen to add a pattern to the skirt. The DP was just white and green, but I colored in the flowers and the leaves to add a bit more color. The ribbon is actually two different ribbons ~ I hand stitched the ric rac trim onto the grosgrain ribbon to add a bit more green into my card. The flower was hand made by me out of some scrap fabric and I just added a few buttons in the center. While working on this color challenge I discovered that I don't have much in the line of green Designer papers unless I want to make a Christmas card.....hmmm I think I need to work on that!

This week Jacilynn hosted our challenge at KLSNS and she gave us this wonderful sketch to follow:
For my card I decided to do create a scene with Underwater Emma. This is really an adorable set ~ in addition to the images I used, there are three fish, a small rock, some seaweed and some bubbles.
I stamped both of my images, colored them with copics and cut them out. I tore a piece of sandpaper and added it to the bottom of the dark blue Designer Paper to represent the sandy bottom of the sea. I adhered the rock image adding dimensionals in a few places and then placed Emma on top of it using dimensionals on her tail. I added stickles to her belt and headband. I'm not real happy with the picture, as this card definitely looks better in real life. I had to do a lot of adjusting to get the blues as close as I could to how they actually are, but her hair just doesn't look right now.
I forgot how hard it is to make a card when you have a bad cold and are grabbing for a tissue every other minute....talk about taking forever! I think I am finally over that part, but now I'm starting the coughing stage, so I figure I'll have that for at least another week....darn colds!

And for those wondering, I got the gummy worm costume finished Wednesday. It's not entirely what I had in mind, but it works, and more importantly fits Ashley, so all is good. Both of my girls DI teams had a test run for the parents on Thursday night and I have to say the teams did a fantastic job! Next week will be another busy one with lots of running around with the kids, and then I also have to get ready for out of town guests on the 20th and then Tyler's birthday on the 23rd.
