Easter Lily Clear and Simple

Last week I received an email asking me to be a Guest Designer for this weeks challenge at AiFactory.  I was honored to be asked and just had to say yes!  I have worked with many of their images already so I knew that I would have fun. 

The challenge for this week (#27) was "Clear and Simple".  I had an idea all planned out for this, but that quickly changed.  I "thought" I had clear buttons, so I searched high and low and came up with nothing.  Visits to two different stores left me empty handed as well...so it was time to think of something else.  I decided to make an acetate card ~ after all, you can't get any clearer than that and actually I'm glad I had to change directions because I really love how this turned out!  

I printed out the Easter Lily image two times so I could layer the flower portion on dimensionals.  I colored the image with my copics, cut it out and placed it on this subtle designer paper I found hiding in my stash and then layered that on white paper.  The inside of the card uses the same designer paper layered on white.  A soft triple organdy bow finished off the card.

KLSNS Challenge #20

I had every intention of posting something more during the week, but I've been crazy busy and only got as far as coloring a few images!  Both of my girls are on DI teams and we have had many more practices added in since the competition is at the end of the month.  Speaking of which, I need to make a gummy worm costume and it has me stumped (not to mention the fact that I have no idea how to sew a costume) I know exactly how I want it to look ~ getting it to actually look that way is a completely different story!   Just another thing to add to the ever growing list of things to get done  unfortunately this one is high priority and needs to get done soon! 

This week our challenge over at KLSNS was hosted by Joanna and she asked us to use buttons on our project.  I got my DT package in the mail early this week, so instead of using the image I had planned on, I just had to break out one of the new stamps - Sweet November Baby Bunny with Daffodil from CC Designs and use it for this challenge.

I chose some of the papers from Basic Grey's Sugar Rush stack because I thought they had a nice spring feel to them.  The image was colored in with my copics and then masked so I could stipple the sky background and then the grass border was attached.  The sky looked a little bare so I added a few butterflies punched with some of the same DP and then covered in stickles.  I did a bit of sewing on a few of the panels and then added a sentment from the CC Designs Spring Kit.

Club Anime Sketch Challenge 7

Wow did February go by fast ~ hopefully we will start getting some warmer weather to enjoy!  Today brings us a Sketch Challenge over at Club Anime.  Virginia gave us this wonderful sketch to use:  

For my card I chose Laney ~ isn't she just the sweetest little thing!!?!  I know a lot of girls that would just love to get a card with her on it! 

When I saw this image, I knew right away that I just had to use this DP ~ I think it is perfect for her.  The paper has a lot of sparkle to it, so I kept the embellishments to a minimum.  As usual, I used copics to color the image, and then I cut it out with my nesties.  A bit of ribbon and a few rhinestones finished off the card.

KLSNS Challenge #19

Where does the week go?  Here it is Saturday again and time for another challenge over at KLSNS!  This week the challenge was hosted by Risa and she provide us with this wonderful sketch: 

 

Since everyone seems to be getting snow lately, I decided to do a Christmas card....besides, you can never get too early of a start on those!    

I used the adorable Baby Jesus stamp from High Hopes.  Traditional Christmas colors just didn't seem to fit this image, so I went for a soft blue and neutral color scheme.   Once again I colored the pearls with my copics so they matched.

Soft Pencil Thursday

This week is we are doing things a little bit different ~ instead of the entire DT having the same image to showcase, we were divided into three groups and each group was given an image to use.  I got to use this adorable Mermaid (and I can't wait to see what the other two images were).  Our challenge this week was to use our favorite coloring medium, and well, I didn't have to give that any thought, mine is copics hands down ~  I still don't know how I managed so long without these wonderful markers! 

I had picked up this DP awhile back from my LSS (for a whole 15 cents!) thinking it would be perfect for a beachy theme (and I just love the colors).  When I saw my image this week I knew right away that this is the paper I would use.  I matched it up with some Cool Caribbean and Sahara Sand card stock and love how it looks together.  I also swiped some white ink across the DP and the Cool Caribbean Card stock circle. I colored the mermaid with the feather blending technique to make her match the DP.  Her head was cut out and placed on dimensionals and her fin is also raised up.  I added some rhinestones for her necklace and of course a bit of glitter to her tail.  A trio of little pearls colored with my copic added to the corner and some wavy trim and it was done.  Notice I pulled out the sewing machine again? Well, actually I just moved it over since I never put it away yet.....  This time I tried a zig zag stitch.  When it came time to stitch the circle I was afraid it would be awful....it's hard enough trying to stitch a straight line, but a circle....  well, it isn't perfect ~ and that's ok, it's handmade ;) ~ it turned out a lot better than I had anticipated. I also ran two lines of stitching across the circle without the thread to add a bit of interest to the cardstock.

Pink Twinkle Tots

I've had this stamp for awhile now, and I can't believe that this is the first time I got around to using her (not to mention that the rest of the Twinkle Tots still remain uninked....and those darn Cheeky Cherry Girls are now on my wish list......I think I need more time in a day to use all these adorable stamps!

Love these Basic Grey Lemonade Papers and they were perfect for the Basic Grey Color Challenge of Maroon, Lemon and Pink.  I colored her in with my copics and then just had to paper piece part of her with these yummy papers (and then I added a bit of shadow to the papers with my copics).  I followed the sketch over at The Pink Elephant and will be using this one again!  The charm was colored with a R85 copic and I tried a new way of attaching it.  When making my bow with the Bow Easy, I slid the charm on before threading it through the back side and it worked, well, like a charm....  I also added some stickles to the flower on her hat to bring in a bit of sparkle.

I have a little confession to make...I really tried to make a new card to share, but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to finish it.  We ended up with dinner guests tonight and then I spent over 2 hours combing burrs out of our dog's fur (really not fun!).  So, since I am sharing a previously made card, I thought I would add another birthday card that I just love (and it was my very first copic colored card almost a year ago).  I just love that CC Designs image ~ he is just too cute hiding behind all those presents!
