Soft Pencil Thursday

This week we were challenged to make a "Spring" Card (tutorial on SCS) along with the image Be Mine
I had never made a "Spring" card before, so although it was a bit of a challenge for me this week it was also fun to try something different.  I printed the image on DP and then printed it again twice on white cardstock.  Michu was cut out and paper pieced onto the DP.  I added stitching for his whiskers with DMC floss and then put his paws (which were again cut out) on with dimensionals.  The red DP was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and then sanded so the white came through.  I really like how this turned out.

Be sure to visit the rest of the DT (links are on the left side) as I know they will have some wonderful eye candy to share with you as well.  We'd love to have you join in on our challenges over at Paper Craft Planet ~ they are every Saturday and you still have until tomorrow night to get in on the current challenge where the lucky winner will receive a $10 voucher to the store.

Be sure to visit the Soft Pencil store to pick up those last minute Valentine's Day images!

KLSNS Challenge #16

It is time for another challenge over at KLSNSThis week the challenge was hosted by Kristine and she asked us to do "Paper Tole" (a fancy name for adding dimension to your image).  This was so much fun that I made two cards this week.

For my first card I used Dragon Flower from Stampavie.
I stamped the main image and cut it out with one of my nesties, colored him in with copics and then added some stickles to the wings and his spikes.  The second layer of my image started underneath his eyes and went down to his toes.  The third and final layer was the bow tie, the flower which I  enhanced with stickles and his toes (and yes, there are stickles on his claws too).  I thought this bright Lime Rickey  went very well with this image.  The ribbon in person is really shimmery and reminds me of scales, so I went with that.  I added some little rhinestones to the corner of the image panel just to add a bit more sparkle.

My second card I used the Hunny Bunny set from CC Designs.  While it looks like an Easter set, it really is versatile enough to use year round.
I stamped the main image on some patterned paper and then paper pieced the body portion and added a heart to look like a shirt.  The second layer is the bunnies head and legs.  I paper pieced the inside of the ear on here.  The third layer is his nose.  While I was playing with my layers, I decided I didn't like the pink tone of the patterned paper I originally chose to use, so I ended up coloring over it with my copics and made my bunny brown instead of pink.  I used Bittersweet papers from Basic Grey and added some pink pearls and ribbon.

Please join us this week, we'd love to see what you do with this technique!  I know the rest of the DT has some wonderful creations to share with you as well, so take a peek at their blogs too and leave them some love!

Soft Pencil Thursday

This week we were challenged to use a 1-2-3 recipe of our choice along with the image Two Musicians

My recipe is 1 ribbon, 2 Designer Papers and 3 Pearls.  When I saw this image I knew I wanted to use a sentiment I picked up recently, but since it didn't fit on the front, I finished off the inside of the card and placed the sentiment there.

Once again I used papers from K&Company's KaZoo line, but I don't think I've used the same papers yet ~ there are so many wonderful patterns in there and they are double sided so twice the fun!

The rest of the DT has some wonderful eye candy to share with you as well, so please stop by and visit them (links are on the left of my blog).  We'd love to have you join in on our challenges over at Paper Craft Planet ~ they are every Saturday and not only do you have a head start on the upcoming challenge (1, 2, 3 recipe of your choice), you still have until tomorrow night to get in on the current challenge where the lucky winner will receive a $10 voucher to the store.

I Love You Valentine

Since there are so many Valentine/Love challenges this week I decided to make another Valentine's Day card ~ not to mention the fact that I still need a few more to give/send out.....
I used Best Buddies set from Your Next Stamp since they are such a cute couple and are perfect for Valentine's Day.  I used DP from the K&Company KaZoo stack and the big heart the cute couple is on was cut out from one of the papers in that stack ~ how easy is that!?!  I paper pieced her dress and added stickles to her headband, the heart and her shoes (speaking of shoes, don't the little bows on her shoes look like hearts?) and then added some more stickles to the outer layer of the sentiment as well as the heart on the sentiment.  Both the sentiment and the couple are popped up on dimensionals.  I wish I could have gotten a better picture showing the right side of the card as the bottom edge is punched with a border punch, but even with the stand, I couldn't get it flat enough to photograph properly.

I am entering this for the following challenges:
Copic Color Challenge - E00, E33, R02

Tuesday Morning Sketches

This week Kelly, the owner of KL Stampin N' Scrappin, is sponsoring Tuesday Morning Sketches, and is giving this weeks winner two wonderful stamps.

Here is this weeks sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I used Lily Day at the Beach and colored her with my copics.  The sky background was stippled while the nestie was still in place.  The crocheted flower was a RAK I recieved last summer.  I love the look of crocheted flowers and wish I could make these ~ but unfortunately I've tried and have failed miserably.

KLSNS Challenge #15

Ready for another challenge over at KLSNS?  This week the challenge was hosted by yours truly and since I love sketches, I challenged the DT to create a card using the following sketch I created:

I used this adorable Seal Puppy Love image from High Hopes Stamps.   I was paging through my paper stacks and thought this Lime Rickey paper was an unexpected but fun choice to use for a Valentine's Day card.  I embossed the scalloped circle an then colored the raised parts with a copic marker.  Some ribbon, a Valentine button, a few dew drops (which kind of blend in with the card), a punched out heart (love those new Martha Stewart punches) and an enamel heart charm (which was a surprise in my first DT kit from Kelly) finish off the card.

Please join us this week, not only because this sketch looks like fun ;), but  there is a fantastic prize package up for grabs this week!  I know the rest of the DT has some wonderful creations to share with you as well, so take a peek at their blogs too!
