In Style Stamps Sneak Peek

InStyle Stamps has 6 new images coming out tomorrow for Valentine's Day ~ 3 Anime images and 3 Retro images.  Today I get to share one of the Anime images with you.

This is Valentine Ava ~ isn't she adorable!?!  I decided to make a little treasure box for one of my daughters ~ although I'm not sure which one yet ~ so instead of personalizing it, I just added a monogram (good thing both of their names start with the letter "A").  I added the ribbon to the corner with the flower in the center so it looked like a bow on a package.  The edges of the base papers have been distressed (sanded down) so they blended in with the white of the box better.

Rose Valentine

I just want to get this posted real quick so I can get it in for Mercy's challenge and will be back to update the information later.  Well, I was too late for that challenge, the next post is already up, but I linked my card over there anyways.  This was a real quick card to make ~ and no coloring {gasp}.  It literally took no more than 10 minutes, and that is only because I stamped the heart stamp with a few different inks and on a few different colored papers to see which way I liked it best.

I used my retired SU Bella Rose paper because I realized it was a perfect match for this heart stamp I picked up at Michael's for $1.00.  I was hoping my SU heart punch would fit this stamp and it worked wonderfully!  The trim I found in my stash of vintage trims and laces I had picked up at an auction some time ago ~ it is a pale pink and white.

This is for the following challenges:
Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Use Hearts
ABC Challenge - L is for Layering
Cute Card Thursday - All New (stamp and border punch are new; heart punch, trim and DP I had but never used)

Club Anime Color Challenge #6

It's the second Saturday of the month and that means it's time for our color challenge over on the InStyle Stamps Club Anime blog.   This time our challenge was to use these colors:

What a perfect combination to start making those Valentine's Day cards!

I used Ling and Roran, who will be in the store soon.  I used very little in the way of embellishments on this card as I wanted the image to stand out.  I imagined the two of them sitting on the beach (somewhere I wouldn't mind being about now), so I colored the ground a sandy color.  I was finally lucky enough to find one of those elusive Heart lace border punches, so I had to put it to use right away!

Since you probably need to get some Valentine's Day cards done anyways, go ahead and join us in this month's challenge!  Not only will you get your needed cards done, but by linking your creation, you could be the lucky winner of 3 digital images and 2 digital papers of your choice!  You have until February 12th, 11:59PM PST to enter.

Check the DT's blogs on January 12th and 13th for some sneak peeks of new images coming on the 14th.  You won't want to miss these!

To purchase any of InStyle's fantastic images, be sure to go through this link InStyle Stamps and you will automatically receive a 5% discount on your purchase!

KLSNS Challenge

It is time for our weekly challenge over at KLSNS. This week we were challenged to use the colors Pink and Black with a netural.

I used Sweet Kiki by CC Designs and paper pieced her.  The main image panel as well as the ice cream cone were placed on with dimensionals.  For the scalloped rectangle and squares I used my nestabilities.  With this color scheme I just had to add some bling, so stickles were put on her headband and to the centers of the background paper and then little rhinestones were added for her buttons, the buttons on her shoes and the cherry on top the ice cream cone.  To finish it off I added some ribbon to each side of the card.  After the card was assembled, I put Crystal Effects on her shoes to make them look like black patent leather and then put the card aside to dry overnight (very important when using Crystal Effects!).

Please join us this week and be sure to check out the rest of the DT as they all have some fabulous creations to share with you!

Soft Pencil Thursday

This morning we woke up to some more snow and are currently under a winter storm warning and are expecting it to snow until at least midnight tonight.  We are supposed to end up with 8"-12".  This week Ashley is Student of the Week and I have to go to school for the last part of the day to read to her class.  I love doing things at school with the kids, but unfortunately it means I need to actually go out and drive in this mess (I really do not like driving in snow and only do it if absolutely necessary).

Now for our weekly challenge at Soft Pencil.  We were challenged to use the colors Red, Olive Green and Ivory or Cream.  The image we are using this week is Two Birds and Two Cats.  Look at Michu and Michula enjoying their time together ~ and those lovebirds on top the kite ~ cute!

I have to admit, these colors were hard for me to use, as I automatically think Christmas, so I chose a DP that had these colors, but also a bit of blue in it plus the flowers helped get me past the Christmas mode.  The ivory/cream color was replaced with white as I had nothing to use in this color that actually matched, BUT I did color Michu with this color in mind.  For the sky I tried something new and used a stipple brush instead of a sponge.  I like the look of this ~ it is more uniform than what I get with sponging.  When making this card I had to wonder, when did those mini glue dots get larger?  I never had a problem using them with dew drops before, they were always the perfect size, but the new boxes of mini glue dots I have are all too big for dew drops (and no I didn't buy the wrong size, the boxes are exactly the same) ~ I want the old size back!

Be sure to visit the rest of the DT to see their take on this challenge!

Club Anime Color Challenge #5

This is my second post for the day, so be sure to scroll down for the first post.

It is time for a Club Anime sketch Challenge.

Here is my interpretation of it:

This image so reminds me of my daughter Ashley ~ she loves talking on the phone.  I decided to use a pink, brown and ivory color scheme for this card, a nice change from all the Christmas colors I have been using lately!  After I put the card together, I decided that it needed a little something else, so I added the rhinestones to the scallop border and then a charm (to which I also added a rhinestone in the center of the flower).

Be sure to check out all the other fabulous creations the rest of the team has made with this sketch!

KLSNS New Years Kick Off Challenge

Happy New Year ~ I hope yours is off to a wonderful start!

Speaking of starts, this is my first post as a DT member for KLSNS.  I am excited to be working with Kelly, Kristine and the other talented ladies on the team and look forward to the next four months!

To kick off the new year and the new DT, KLSNS is offering a fantastic prize to the winner of our first challenge of the year ~ Look at all these goodies!

Included in this prize package is at least one High Hopes stamp, at least one Stampavie stamp, at least one CC Designs stamp, chipboard shapes, buttons and other embellishments, Basic Grey paper, a pink and black card kit with matching notebook and a gift bag.  Makes me wish I could enter ;)

So what do you have to do for a chance to win all these goodies?  Just join us in this weeks challenge over on the KLSNS blog.  You have until Midnight on Friday, January 8th to enter.  The top 3 entries will also be awarded a blinky for their blogs.

Now onto this weeks challenge.  We were given this sketch to follow (and it is one I will definitely use again):

And here is my interpretation of it:

I used this cute Liugi Pizza Guy stamp by High Hopes to make a Valentine's Day card.  The pizza he is holding reminds me of those huge decorated cookie "cakes", so I just had to color it that way.  I also tried something new ~ instead of shading the white with gray tones, I used earth tones and I have to say that I like the way it looks with the colors on this card ~ sometimes it pays to try something different!

Be sure to check out the creations of the rest of the DT (links are on the left side bar).

Have a fantastic day!
