KLSNS Challenge #32

Happy Saturday and Happy Birthday to my Mom!  It is time for our weekly challenge at KLSNS and Kelly gave us the challenge of "May Flowers" along with this fantastic sketch to use:

And here is my card:

I used Brigitta on a Tree Stump by CC Designs, but as you can see, I just used Brigitta this time.  The papers are from the Basic Grey Lemonade collection. The image was colored with copics and I added stickles to her wing.  I embossed the one panel and added pearls to the border punched piece.  Brigitta was added using dimensionals.

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see how you interpret Kelly's "May Flowers" sketch.  Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see some wonderful eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.

Enjoy your weekend :)

ISS Blog Hop

Welcome to the InStyle Stamps blog hop.  You should have arrived from Raquel's  blog, but if not, please head on over to the InStyle Stamps blog and start from the beginning.  When you have completed the hop, you should end up back at InStyle Stamps where we would like you to vote for your favorite project. The DT member that receives the most votes will win a prize AND just for voting you also have the chance to win a prize too!

This month it's all about Dad's, so our theme for the hop is FATHER'S DAY
I used Chloe and her Prince for my card ~ what a perfect image to use for Father's Day, after all, no matter how old you are, you will always be Daddy's little princess!  I kept the embellishments simple, adding only some stitched ribbon along with a few circles I punched out, as the papers stand alone quite well and I didn't want to distract from the image.

Your next stop on the hop is Cyndi.

Remember....to receive an automatic 5% discount on your purchases, please be sure to go through this link InStyle Stamps.

Have a wonderful day :)

Paper Works Company Blog Hop

Welcome to the Paper Works Friends and Family Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from Corinne's blog, but if not, please head back to the Paper Works Company blog to start from the beginning.

For my card I used Charlotte's Valentine from the Freckle Love Collection as this is one of my favorites. I colored her with copics and decided to go with a monochromatic theme so I paper pieced her dress, shoes, headband and the heart.  I added white dots to her dress and headband, liquid pearls around the outside of the heart and stickles to various parts of the image.  Instead of using Designer papers, I embossed the paper with a cuttlebug folder and then sanded the red paper so the white came through.  On the other red panel, I repeatedly stamped a sentiment in chalk ink.

Now what is a blog hop without prizes?  Peggy is giving away the following prizes to some lucky commenters on the the blog hop:

RAM Collection (set of 4)
Safari Friends (set of 4)
Aqua Amigos (set of 4)
Jungle Jesters (set of 4)

Be sure to leave a comment at each stop as we don't know which blogs are the lucky ones!  Your next stop is Jenn but remember to leave a comment before you go! Be sure to finish the hop by June 4th ~ winners will be announced on June 5th.

Here is the order of the blog hop in case you get lost:

For my card I used Michu and The Big Flowers ~ he just looks so excited jumping up and down among the flowers!  I colored the image with copics and then added dots to the flowers with a white gel pen.  I also added white dots on all the pink panels as well as in the middle of the scallops and just had to throw a polka dotted flower in there as well.  I broke down and used the gorgeous new DeLovely papers from Cosmo Cricket ~ I LOVE these new papers ~ they are so bright and cheerful.  The butterflies are covered in stickles ~ I had to add some sparkle somewhere ;)

Your next stop is Betty but be sure to leave a comment before you go!  You will have until 8:00pm EST Sunday, May 30th to finish the hop.

Lollipop Flower Pot

Happy Wednesday!  Today it is my turn to host the weekly SNS at KLSNS.  Today I decided to showcase a quick, easy and fun project that we made one year for my daughter's Birthday party. We used these as centerpieces on the tables and then as giveaways ~ and the girls really loved them!

Supplies Needed
  • Floral Pot
  • Styrofoam ball a little smaller than the top of the pot
  • Green floral "grass" or moss to cover styrofoam ball
  • Adhesive
  • Glue or T pins if needed (to hold grass/moss on ball)
  • Flower Nestabilities or Punch, Leaf Die Shape or Punch
  • Hole Punch to fit Lollipop Stick through
  • Lollipops
  • Designer Papers (I used papers from the Basic Grey Sugared Collection)
  • Embellishments as desired (ribbon, glitter, rhinestones, etc)

Cover the styrofoam ball completely with floral grass/moss (if you are having a hard time keeping it all in place, you can glue it down or use T pins, but I didn't do either).   I couldn't get a picture of what this looked like because I needed both hands to hold the grass on, but I think it is pretty self explanatory.  Once it is covered, place it into the flower pot so that it fights snugly.

Cut/punch flowers from the designer papers and then punch holes in the center of the flowers.

Place lollipops in the hole bringing the flower up to the base of the lollipop, and crumple the flower a bit around the lollipop to give it more dimension.  Embellish flowers as desired adding leaves, glitter, beads etc.

Push the lollipop flowers into the styrofoam ball and embellish pot as desired.

Some other options:

Really short on time ~ use purchased flowers ~ most even have holes already in the centers.

Want a more permanent display piece ~ Instead of using lollipops, make the flowers adding buttons, bows, etc. to the centers and attach them to shish-ka-bob sticks (you can even paint the stick green) and place them in the flower pot.

Teacher Gift ~ Instead of attaching the flowers to shish-ka-bob sticks, attach them to pencils or pens.

I hope you enjoyed my project today and if you decide to give it a try, I would love to see your flower pot!

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Creative Inspirations - Punches or Die Cuts
Ooh La La Creations - "Bright and Cheerful"

KLSNS Challenge #31

Happy Saturday!  I am hoping today is a nicer day than we had yesterday ~ rainy, overcast and cool.  It is time for our weekly challenge at KLSNS and we were challenged by Ceal to "Tear It Up" by using either paper distressing/paper tearing on our project.
I used Isabelle with Puppy Coco by Stampavie and papers from the Basic Grey Sugared collection.  Since I was going with paper distressing I decided to create a more vintage style card.  I stamped the image in Close to Cocoa ink and instead of using my ever loved copics, I switched things up and used chalks so it would have a softer feel to it ~ and it was actually kind of fun bringing those out!  The edges of all the papers are distressed and then inked, and I embossed the green designer paper, sanded it and then inked that as well.  The lace is some vintage stuff I picked up awhile back as is the button and pearl pin.  I finally got some chain and decent jump rings and attached the charm that way ~ I really do love that look much better (although a large standing magnifier would probably help when putting them together since the chain and the rings are so tiny and if you have longer nails like I do, it makes it even harder to work with these little pieces).

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see how you "Tear it Up".  Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see some wonderful eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.

Enjoy your weekend :)

Soft Pencil Thursday

As I promised last week, here is a sneak peek of Soft Pencil's new image ~ "Happy Sailors" ~ that will be available tomorrow ~ isn't this cute?

Since this is a water themed card, I used my go to Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper ~ not sure what I am going to do when it is all gone....  I kept the layout for this one really simple, just adding buttons to the corners.  With all the buttons I have I can't believe how hard it was to find 4 white ones ~ almost all of my "white" buttons are actually pearlized ones...who knew?  I added the sentiment in a scalloped oval to make it look like a cloud in the sky and just rounded the corners of the image.

Stop by and visit the rest of the DT to see what they did with this adorable image (links are on the left of my blog).

Remember that we will be having another blog hop on May 27th, and it's a big one with both the Design Team and customers participating!

KLSNS Challenge #30

Wow, it's the weekend already!  That means it is time for another challenge over at KLSNS.  This week Risa Challenged us to "Show some love to our Animal Friends".
I chose High Hopes Scuba Kitty for my card.  This is such a fun image!  I colored it with my copics (no surprise there) and then added Crystal Effects to the water puddle, water drops, fish bowl and the goggles (although I forgot how long this stuff takes to dry when using so much ~ I should have done it after I put the image on the card, but no, I had to do it on the plain unmatted image and then wait for it to dry in order to finish up my card.....).  The Designer Papers I used are from Basic Grey's Lime Rickey collection ~ I tend to gravitate to these papers when using a water type image.  The dark blue patterned paper was embossed and then sanded to show the white.  I also embossed the turquoise panel on the front.   I dug through my button stash and found this cool blue and white one ~ I just wish I had more like it!

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see what animals you decide to showcase (somehow I'm thinking Dogs and Cats will be the most represented).  Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see some wonderful eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.

Soft Pencil Thursday

Today I have to pick up Ashley early from school and get her ready for her Ballet Recital dress rehearsal.  I hate to pull her out of school early, but she has to be in full make-up, hair done (I hope I can get her hair flat and in a good bun, especially since today at school it was Crazy Hair Day), in her outfit and on stage ready to go at 4:30, and we'd never make it otherwise.  I am hoping she doesn't have homework, as it looks like we will be getting home quite late.

It's time to show you one of Soft Pencil's new images - Flowers for My Bunny Mom.  I love this image and how versatile it is ~ you can use it for Mother's Day, Birthday, Friendship, Spring, Thinking of You and much more!

The rest of the DT has some wonderful eye candy to share with you as well, so please stop by and visit them (links are on the left of my blog).

Head on over to Paper Craft Planet to see the current challenge.  You have until Tuesday, May 18th to enter and the lucky winner will receive a $10 voucher to the store.

ISS OTHBCGA

Hopefully by the time this posts, I will be out of the dentist chair (only a cleaning this time ~ thank heavens) and on my way to school to be a helper for Trevor's class agricultural visit.  The kids have so much fun with this ~ I've helped with my other 3 kids previously and now this will be the last time I get to do this ~ it's kind of sad, my little guy is really growing up :(

It is time for another InStyle Stamps "Over the Hump Blog Candy Giveaway".  Since Father's Day will be here soon enough, that is the theme we have this month.
I used Richard for my card and kept the embellishments to a bare minimum.  I always seem to have a hard time using embellishments on cards for men because I don't want them to look to girlie.  I did use satin ribbon, but since it is an olive green, I thought I could get away with that one.  To make the sentiment a little more interesting, I added two circles of DP behind it and then just added a photo corner to the top right side.

We'd love to see what you come up with for Dad, so go visit the InStyle Stamps blog for more information and to link your project when you've finished.

Remember by shopping through this link: InStyle Stamps you will receive an automatic 5% discount on any stamp purchase you make

ISS Sketch Challenge - SC9

What happened to spring?  Around here it seems like winter is coming again ~ it is cold, rainy, and we are expecting some snow showers.....snow in May....yuck!  Can't wait for the weather to warm up again so we can get out and enjoy it!

Today brings us our monthly sketch challenge at InStyle Stamps

Here is this months sketch:

And here is my version of it:

For my card today I used Cupcake Chloe ~ I am really loving these new girls!  I colored her in with copics and then added faux stitching around the border.  I thought these Doodlebug papers were a great match for this image, so I just had to pull them out.  I added some white dots on the cupcakes (like on the papers) and then went all around the pink panels with the dots as well.

Please stop by and visit the rest of the Design Team to see how they interpreted this sketch (the links are on the left side of my blog).   We'd love to have you join in our challenge this month so head on over to the  InStyle Stamps blog for further details.

KLSNS Challenge #29

This week it was my turn to host the KLSNS challenge and since I don't believe we have done a recipe challenge yet, that is what I decided to do.  The recipe to follow is "Easy as 1,2,3" ~ 1 type of Ribbon, 2 Designer Papers and 3 Embellishments.

For this challenge I decided to use this CC Designs image - Swiss Pixies Brigitta on a Tree Stump.  With images this large, I like a more simple layout to keep the focus on the image itself, so for my embellishments I punched 3 butterflies out of one of the Basic Grey Sugared papers I used and added them to the "scene".  I did add some Angel Wings Shimmerz to the butterflies and the flower petals, and then some stickles to the flower centers, the mushroom spots, her wing and her pony holders.

We would love to have you join in our challenge this week and see what you come up with using this recipe!  Stop on over at the KL Stamping N Scrappin blog for all the challenge details and to see some wonderful eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.

Last night we went to the Spring Carnival at the kids' school.  They always have so much fun at that every year and the nice thing is that almost everything, aside from two games and the food, is free!  This year they had 3 big climbing/slide inflatables, a dunk tank, a bunch of games for the kids to play, hair painting, face painting and temporary tattoos.  There were 2 new things this year was a jail, where kids could have their friends put in "jail" for a quarter ~ that was a big hit ~ and one of Alicia's classmates was dressed up as a clown and was making balloon animals, flowers, hats etc ~ I am amazed at how well we could do that!  I got to try my hand at some hair painting on the kids for awhile and it was actually pretty fun!

The weather here on the other hand is anything but spring like.  It is cold and rainy and just icky!  I have had the worst cough for the last few days that just won't stop and this weather really isn't helping it any.

Well today, I'm off to make jewelry with my Junior troop.  One of Tyler's classmates mom makes some amazing pieces, so I can't wait to see what the girls will make with her ~ I think I may even make one for myself!  Then Tyler is off to a swimming party at a hotel ~ fun stuff!

Enjoy your weekend :)
