Soft Pencil Wednesday

After the holiday break it is time for our weekly Soft Pencil challenge.  This week we were given the adorable image "We Made a Snowman".  Another image of Elizabeth's that I just love.   And our challenge was to add sparkle, glitter, flock or liquid applique.

I have a box of DCWV cards that I always forget about, so I decided to use the striped one for this card.  I added some DP panels and then the main image which is colored with copics.  For the glitter I used some Martha Stewart glitter I recently got from Michael's (couldn't pass it up at 70% off) ~ "Snow glitter" was used for the snow (and this stuff is awesome ~ when you use it, it really does look like snowflakes coming out of the jar ~ I love it)!  I used the coarse crystal glitter for the snowman, falling snow and the snow balls.

I know this card qualifies for a few challenges, but I don't have the time to link them right now, so hopefully I'll be able to pop on later tonight and update.

Monochromatic Fairy Christmas

I won a gift certificate for Inky Impressions awhile back and this is one of the stamps that I ordered.   This was the first time that I had ever used these stamps, and they stamp wonderfully (and are a lot of fun to color too).  Inky Impressions challenge is to add snowflakes to your card or project using one of their stamps, so I am entering this card.  There are snowflakes to the right of the girl, on the scalloped circle and down in the left hand corner area, but because the card is monochromatic, they are a bit hard to see in the picture.

I am also entering the following challenges:

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Free for all
Crafty Calendar Challenge - Winter Sparkle

ISS BLOG HOP

Welcome to another InStyle Stamps Blog Hop!

This month our theme is Love and Romance, and let me tell you, it was a nice change from all the Christmas stuff I have been working on lately!    You should have arrived from Mary's blog, but if not, please head on over to the InStyle Stamps blog to start at the beginning. At the end of the hop, you should end up back at InStyle Stamps where we would like you to vote for your favorite project. The DT member that receives the most votes will win a prize AND just for voting you also have the chance to win a prize too!  To receive an automatic 5% discount on your purchases, please be sure to go through this link InStyle Stamps.

Now on to my project.  Since I don't have much in the way of Valentine's Day decorations, I decided to make one.

The image I chose to use for this is Mike and Jessie.  I think they make a cute couple and I just love Jessie's hair style!  The base of my wall hanging is a plaque from Michael's (I picked up a bunch of these awhile back for 19¢ each ~ love clearance prices like that) and I covered it with DP.  I added a doily, ribbon and a bow and then to the bow I added these gorgeous crystal topped stick pins (another fantastic buy ~ 12 for 39¢).

I then added the large heart, the Love sentiment (which is covered in Dazzling Diamonds) and Mike and Jessie, which were colored with copics.  With room to spare, I added two scallop heart frames and then a flower which was sprayed with Shimmer Spritz ~ but to be honest, I can't really notice any shimmer at all ~ it appears to have dried absolutely clear :(

Ribbon was used for a hanger and to cover the holes where the ribbon went in I added a little flower to both.  As a final touch I added some scattered pearls.  I had a lot of fun working on this project and am really pleased with how it turned out.

Your next stop is Melissa and I know she will have something fantastic to share with you.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Allsorts - Pearls and Swirls
Charisma Cardz - Anything but Christmas
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Free for all

Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Creative Inspirations - Something to Decorate your home
Polka Doodles - Free Theme

Soft Pencil Thursday

It is again time for our weekly Soft Pencil challenge.  This week we were given the mandala image "Divine Creation" to use.  When I first saw it I had intended to use the image as flowers with a button center, but then changed my mind and came up with this:

The clean and simple looks is something I don't really do too often, but I thought it worked well with this image.  I made patterned paper out of the image and then placed little silver gems in the centers.  A simple monogram, velvet ribbon and a black embossed panel complete the card.  This was a very quick card to do, and I think a set of these would make a wonderful gift.

Sorry about the not so great picture ~ it looks about as good as I feel right now ~ not too hot LOL!   I took so many pictures, but the embossing didn't show up at all.  Well I finally ended up getting the embossing to be visible but now the top part isn't as crisp as it should be and looks a bit gray.

It has definitely been hectic around here lately.  Alicia was home sick Friday and Ashley and Trevor were home sick yesterday (so much for my day of Christmas shopping I had planned).  Monday I had a two hour dentist appointment and then that night was parent night at Ballet followed by Tyler's Cub Scout Christmas party, last night was Tyler's Christmas program and tonight I am headed off to the Fire Dept with my Daisies to deliver the cookies we made on Saturday.  Then of course my loving kids had to so kindly share their cold or whatever it is they have with me.  I started with a sore throat on Monday and now my head is all congested ~ hoping we are all better by Christmas!

I am also entering this in the Whimsy Stamps Challenge of black and white.

RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR

Today over on the InStyle Stamps blog it is time for another Over the Hump Blog Candy Give Away.  Head on over to see the wonderful creations by the DT and for your chance to win a fantastic prize.

Remember, any purchases you make at InStyle Stamps through this link qualifies you for an immediate discount of 5% on your purchase!

This month our theme was New Year's and I thought Ava holding a banner would be a good way to welcome 2010.

What is New Year's without all kinds of glitz?  Well, to capture some of that I used some sparkly paper from DCWV All Dressed up Stack, colored in Ava's wings and barrettes  with Tiara stickles and added this fun metallic trim I picked up last month.   I hand wrote the 2010 on the banner and the Happy New Year sentiment is inside the card since I didn't want to clutter up the front.  The panel with Ava on it is on dimensionals.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - New Year's
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Die Cut Dreams - Glitter Me Silly
Kraftin Kimmie - "Sparkle Baby"

Mojo Monday Warm Holiday Wishes

I haven't played along with the Mojo sketches for awhile now and just had to give this one a try.

I used one of my new CC Designs images from the Winter kit and colored her in different shades of pink.  I added stickles to the pom poms on her boots and rhinestones for her pony holders and the flower center.  The embossed panel was enhanced with New Canvas Palette ink.  This is a Christmas card for one of the may kids I need to give cards to.

This card is being entered in the following challenges:
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Monochromatic Card
Crafty Cardmakers - "Alternative Christmas" - non traditional colors
Creative Inspirations - Non Traditional Christmas Colors
Gingersnap Creations - GC31 Color - Monochromatic
Mojo Monday - sketch
Our Creative Corner - Holiday Theme card
Papertake - Red and Green must not be seen - only pinks and brown here
The Pink Elephant - Use your favorite Christmas Colors - As I mentioned in another entry for TPE, I am loving the non traditional colors this year and pink is one of my favs, but this time I paired it with brown.

OK, off to try and get at least a card in before bed time.....

Club Anime Color Challenge

It's the second Saturday of the month and that means it's time for our color challenge over on the InStyle Stamps Club Anime blog.   This time our challenge was to use the colors red, green and brown so I dug out my old Christmas stack of papers that I knew would be perfect for this challenge and decided to use Scarf Chick because I think she works really well with these papers (and she is just cuter than heck).

Of course, she was colored with my copics and the background was colored in with E40 to give it an ivory tone.  The pearls were colored with E42 to match the color scheme.  No stickles or glitter on this card, but I did manage to get a bit of bling with the gold colored buttons courtesy of my metallic gel pen, and then the vintage trim I found in my cabinet (love that box of trims, ribbons and lace).

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT's creations (links are in my left side column).  And as always, please join in, we'd love to see what you come up with using this color combo.

To purchase this and any of the other fantastic images, be sure to go through this link InStyle Stamps and you will automatically receive a 5% discount on your purchase!

I also want to remind you that InStyle is looking for Guest Designers for January and February?  All you have to do is join in our sketch challenge this month and link up your creation with Mr. Linky.  You have until 11:59PM EST on December 26th to enter.  Good luck!

I will also be entering this in a few other challenges, but I will update those later on as I have some cookie making/decorating to do with my Daisies.

OK, edited to add the challenges:
Banana Split Sunday - Stay warm-well I think she looks warm all bundled up
Creative Inspirations - Sketch ~ except now I see that when I printed my copy of the sketch the right end was cut off a bit, so I missed the strip down the right side
Cupcake Inspiration Challenge - I used the holly and berries from the cupcake and the colors were red and green ~ I used a variation of those colors
Everybody Art Challenge - Red and Green
My Time to Craft - Christmas Foliage - holly

Soft Pencil Thursday

Wow, it's already Thursday again ~ I can't believe how fast the days go by this time of year ~ and it is time for our weekly Soft Pencil challenge.  This week we were given the image "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" to use (and I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw this adorable image) ~ is it not the cutest?!?  Then we had to pair it with our favorite Christmas color combo.  Well, I am loving the non-traditional color schemes lately, so I chose a pale blue and pale pink combo and the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses pack worked perfectly with that.

I colored the image in with copics and then added lots of stickles to it ~ after all, you have to have glistening snow right?  The image was then cut out with my nesties, since I used the largest size to cut the image I had to free cut the outer layer, but in the end it all worked out ok.   The edge of the sentiment was colored with RV00 to add a little contrast and then the pearls were colored to match.  The snowflakes were covered in stickles and then a little rhinestone was placed in the centers.

Be sure to visit the rest of the Design Team (links on the left hand side of my blog), and see what they came up with.

Well, Winter is officially here ~ on Tuesday it started snowing, and we ended up with a lot of snow, so the kids got their first snow day yesterday and were they excited!  They had a blast playing in the snow and sledding.  I guess we should have put up the Christmas tree since we haven't gotten around to that yet, but there is always this weekend....Today we woke up to below zero temps and a wind chill of -25, which is expected to last most of the day.....

I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Clearly Inspired - Winter Theme
Crafty Calendar - Winter Sparkle
Crafty Cardmakers - "Alternative Christmas"  (non traditional colors)
Creative Inspirations - Non-traditional Christmas Colors

Soft Pencil Thursday

As some of you already know, I was recently asked to join the Soft Pencil Design Team and today is my first post as a team member.  I discovered Elizabeth's adorable images awhile back, and really enjoy working with them, so I'm thrilled to be a part of the Design Team.

Our challenge this week was to use one of Elizabeth's new calendar images and to use two or more layers on your project.  The image I got to work with is Thinking of 2010, and I thought I'd show it to you as it comes so you can see the possibilities with digital stamps.

I had a few ideas in my mind, but in the end decided on this:

A calendar with removable monthly inserts.  I took a wood picture frame and painted it with Acrylic paint, added DP and sanded the edges.  The cat was printed out on some of the same DP, cut out and affixed to the frame.  Since my printer doesn't work too well on SU cardstock I printed the 2010 thought bubble on my normal white paper, colored it in with RV00 and then added stickles to the outside edges of it.  And, since I needed some little bubbles leading up to the thought, I added a few pearls.  A flower finished off the frame.

Now for the calendar part....

I added another one of Elizabeth's images to each month.  For this particular one, I used Welcome Winter.

I think this will end up on my daughter's desk.

Club Anime Sketch Challenge #4 and Guest DT Call

It is time for another monthly sketch challenge over at Club Anime, and make sure you read this post to the end as there is an announcement.  This was a fun sketch to work with:

And here is my interpretation of it:

I chose this image because it reminds me of my kids in the winter.  We have a huge hill in the front of our house which turns into the kids sled hill in the winter, so I just had to put the "Let it Snow" saying on there  ~ and living in Wisconsin we will more get more than enough, although we haven't had any yet.....

Last year on December 3rd, I was a chaperone on a field trip with Alicia's class to a one room schoolhouse and it was snowing so bad they couldn't even walk to one of the buildings they were supposed to go see because of all the snow.  Tyler went on the same field trip yesterday, and he was lucky ~ no snow at all.

OK, back to my card....I colored the image with my copics and decided to make patterns on both of their sweaters with the blender pen {LOVE that marker!}.  The image was cut out and placed on the embossed and stickled (is that even a word LOL!) circle.  More stickles were then added for snow.  The little snowflakes are actually the punchouts from the snowflake border punch ~ I just added little gems to the centers and they made the perfect embellishment.  The scalloped edge is the opening of the card, something I don't do too often, but I should because than it makes me finish the inside up right away!

Would you like a discount on InStyle Stamps?  For every purchase you make at InStyle Stamps (using this link) you will receive an automatic 5% discount on your purchase!

Now I also mentioned a Guest Design Team Call....well, how would you like to be a guest designer in January and February for InStyle Stamps and work with these fantastic images?  All you have to do is join in our challenge this month and link up your creation with Mr. Linky.  You have until 11:59PM EST on December 26th to enter.  Good luck!
