Love You

This week the sketch challenge over at Sweet and Sassy was one that I absolutely loved so I had to fit it in this week.  It also had a spin to it where you had to use stitching ~ and yes, I still haven't had the courage to pull out the big sewing machine, besides, it is much easier to change your marker color than to change your thread and bobbin.......

Anyways, I used this sweet Vanessa image and paired it up with the beautiful Bo Bunny Paper.  This  is the same line of papers we used on Ashley's Valentine box earlier this year ~ a favorite of mine back then and still a favorite of mine now!

I'm cutting this short because I have to get this posted to enter the Sweet and Sassy Challenge.  This card is also for the challenge at Creative Card Crew - Favorite Things (which is pretty much all of it LOL!)

ISS Blog Hop

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Not only is today Black Friday, but it is also the day for the InStyle Stamps monthly blog hop. Now, I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate going out to stores on Black Friday, too crowded for my comfort, so, I can't think of anything better than to sit back and enjoy what wonderful creations the DT has in store for you.

You should have arrived from Julie's blog, but if not, please head on over to the InStyle Stamps blog to start at the beginning.

Our theme this month was ornaments. I had a lot of different ornament ideas, but in the end decided to use my Memory Glass that I had sitting neglected for about 2 years now. To go along with the ornament, I also made an ornament shaped card.

I colored this beautiful angel, Kimi, with copics and then painted her wings with Angel Wings Shimmerz ~ now how appropriate is that. I also added it to the edge of the image panel, the edge of the sentiment panel and to the designer paper.& Then to make her sparkle more, I added stickles to the edges of her "dress".  The pearls were colored with RV11 to match and then some organdy ribbon was added to finish it off.  The ornament has a heavier silver wired ribbon for hanging.

Here is a close up of the card to capture the shimmer and sparkle:

And here is the ornament:

Your next stop is Mary and I know she will have some fabulous eye candy for you. AT the end of the hop, you should end up back at InStyle Stamps where we would like you to vote for your favorite project. The DT member that receives the most votes will win a prize AND just for voting you also have the chance to win a prize!

This card is also for the following challenges:

Santa Girl

This is my second post for today so be sure to check out my Thanksgiving card on the post below.

I ordered the Winter Kit from CC Designs and used the Santa Emma, presents and a sentiment from the set (although I'm not sure of the proper names of these yet).

I tried to add a bunch of shimmer/bling to this card. I embossed the white panel with the Snowflakes folder and then painted the raised snowflakes with Shimmerz.  The bows on the presents are covered in stickles and the fur trim on her outfit and hat are done with Flower Soft in Polar White and then covered in stickles.  The belt buckle is colored with a metallic silver pen.  The top snowflake and rhinestone were colored my RV23 copic to match the pink paper and the little rhinestones used on the sentiment.

Here is a close up to try and catch some of the shimmer on this card:

I think this card may go to one of my daughter's this year.

Autumn Trevor Thanksgiving

I thought that since Thanksgiving is next week I better get started on some cards and here is one that I did:

And when you pull out the tab you get this:

I was just going to leave the card with clean lines, but then decided to distress the edges of the mats.  I then sponged the edges of the papers with Creamy Caramel ink.  The sky was colored with my B91 copic and then colored over with the Blender pen to give it a somewhat cloudy effect.  I think this card will go to my own Trevor.

In Style Stamps Color Challenge

I hope you are having a wonderful Saturday!  Today we have a color challenge for you on the InStyle Stamps Club Anime blog.  Here is our inspiration picture this month:

And here is what I came up with for these colors:

For this challenge I used the Christmas Tree Chick image and matched her up with the Eskimo Kisses papers from Basic Grey.  The color seems a bit off in the picture, and unfortunately her top looks a bit on the  orange side while IRL it really is more of a coral color.  I cut out the image with my new Nesties Labels 1 (I came across a great sale last week and ordered the Labels sets 1-4 and the fancy tags set as well).  And I tried something new again and made my very first Easel Card.  I was intimidated by the thought of making one of these, but it was so easy to do!  The little extra effort it takes transforms an ordinary card into a stunning display.  I will definitely be making more of this style card for the upcoming holiday season.

I kept the inside fairly simple and instead of using an embellishment to hold the card open, I put the sentiment on dimensionals instead.

Head on over to the InStyle Stamps Club Anime blog to see the rest of the DT's amazing creations.  We would love to have you join us in November's color challenge.  You have an entire month to play, and by entering your creation, you could win a $20 gift certificate to InStyle Stamps ~ how great is that!?!

It's a Winter Wonderland with InStyle Stamps

Today over on the InStyle Stamps blog is an Over the Hump Blog Candy Give Away.  Head on over to see the wonderful creations by the DT and for your chance to win a fantastic prize.  If you want to purchase an image or two for yourself, visit InStyle Stamps with this link and you will receive a discount of 5% on your purchase!

Our theme was snow, and I decided to make a snow globe card.  The tutorial is here on SCS, but I did have to modify it as I wanted a larger card.

I colored Sandy in with my Copics, cut her out and then added stickles along with some rhinestones.  Isn't she just the cutest?!?  The "back" side of the globe is stamped with snowflakes enhanced with some stickles.  After that was done, I decided that she needed to be standing on some snow, so a piece of paper and lots of stickles later I had a wonderful snow bank for her to stand on.  Of course, I couldn't just leave it at that ~ I added a few snowflakes to the front of the card (and, yup, you guessed it, those are covered in stickles as well) and then put rhinestones in the centers of those for a little more color.  This was a really fun card to make and surprisingly it didn't take all that long.  I think it actually took longer trying to get a picture of it without the glare from the transparency sheet!

Here is the inside:

Two of the stamp lines they carry are CC Designs and High Hopes so here are the cards I sent in with my application:

Squigglefly Challenge #27

Today's challenge over at Squigglefly is to use the following sketch.

And here is what I came up with:

I've had the DCWV Pet Stack for quite some time and I don't think I even used one of the papers in this pack yet, so I decided to pull them out and pair it up with these cute kittens. Since the patterned paper is quite busy on it's own, I just added a chocolate ribbon and some chocolate pearls (and why didn't I buy more than one pack of this color!?!)  As I was putting my card together, I decided that I didn't like the image on stark white paper, so I ended up coloring it with my E40 and E41 copics ~ easy fix!

We'd love to have you play along with this week's challenge!

If you haven't been over to Squigglefly lately, you have to go and check out the wonderful new images for the Holidays.  There is also something new on the site called "Nab It".  Every day an image will be posted at a special low price, but the number available for purchase at this price will be limited, so you have to act quick.

Exciting News!

I can finally share my exciting news!  I have been asked to join the Club Anime Design Team with InStyle Stamps!  I really love the uniqueness of these images and can't wait to share my creations with you.

Here are the other talented ladies I will be working with:
Cyndi Bundi
Genevieve Samson
Janelle Stofus
Julie Gastelum
Kimberley Blakey
Lana Clarke
Margie Cortina
and the guest designers for November and December:
Ange'lique Nederpel
Linda Algodin

Here is a card I used as one of my submissions.  After a bit of searching, I came across this paper and decided to use red and white as my main colors.  I cut the pennant out, colored it with copics, stamped the sentiment and then added faux stitching around the edges.  I chose the stitched ribbon as I thought it went really well with the theme of this card and then I just had to add the cute baseball and bat buttons to finish it off.

This past week has been crazy!  Ashley ended up staying home sick Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Turns out she had an ear infection and, they are assuming based on her symptoms, H1N1.  I am still fighting off whatever it is that I have.

On Friday, we had our Daisy Troop Bake Sale at school and raised $262.50!  We are using that money to buy fleece material to make blankets for cancer patients at Children's Hospital for the Holidays.  And today, we had a Daisy outing at the Children's Museum ~ the girls had a great time!  I also have to add that both yesterday and today we were spoiled with temps in the upper 60's ~ a very nice welcome this time of year ~ I only wish it would last....

Cupcake Birthday Girl

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween and all the kids had fun Trick-or-Treating.
I won $50 worth of stamps from Your Next Stamp (thanks again Karen!) and this is one of the sets that I chose.

The challenge over at Your Next Stamp was to make a shaped card.  I thought a cupcake shaped card would be perfect with Cupcake Fhiona and these are so easy to make!  I added stickles to the dots on the "frosting" of the cupcake as well as her shoes, headband and of course the cupcake.

This card is also for the following challenges
Simon Says Stamps - All that sparkles (stickles)
Crafty Cardmakers - Use stamping on your project
Digital Ink Co. - colors

Last Wednesday, I spent a bit of time at school since the kids had their Halloween parties, and then we stayed after school to decorate Alicia's classroom bulletin boards.  The kids had off Thursday and Friday but we were stuck home since Alicia was sick ~ ends up she has a sinus infection.  On Saturday, right before trick or treating, Tyler got sick (but insisted he go out for just a bit) and had a temp around 103 that night.  Today after Ashley got home from school, I took her temp and it was 103.8, so I was going to give her Tylenol, but then she got sick.  Tonight I went to the doctor since over the weekend I developed a dry cough and wheezing along with chest tightness and have had a low grade fever ~ I have some viral infection.  Gee...all these different illnesses in one house.....

I wanted Tyler to have his Business in a Box project done over the weekend, but things didn't work out that way, so we worked on it tonight a bit and need to get it finished tomorrow!  He is making a candy shop called "Tyler's Tasty Treats".
