Meet Kiki La Rue

When I saw these girls I knew my oldest daughter would like them as much as me, so I just had to get them.

Isn't she just the cutest little girl!?! I know these will definitely get a lot of use at my house. I really like the color combo on this card and was glad I had some DP that matched perfectly (leftovers from my youngest daughters Valentine box)!

This card is for the following challenges:

Squigglefly Challenge #17

This weeks challenge over at Squigglefly is to create a shaped card. I wanted to make a card shaped like a Dr. Bag, but it looked more like a purse, so I scrapped that idea and instead went with the round First Aid symbol for the card.

I tried putting on some embellishments, but then you couldn't see the symbol too well, so I decided to forgo them. The white card is adhered to the black matting (which does go around completely), but when I was trying to take a picture of it, it kept opening up just enough to hide the black on the left side.

Stop on by and join us in this weeks challenge :)

Your Next Stamp 1st Design Team Call

Your Next Stamp is holding a DT call and they have some really cute stamps, so I decided to "try out". They asked for us to choose two of our favorite cards to post on our blog. Well, I have a hard time picking out my favorites, and ask me in a week, I will probably have a different answer to what my favorites are. In the end I chose to showcase three cards for versatility ~ a girl, a boy and an animal.

This card has to be one of my favorite Anya cards I have done to date. She is 3 dimensional and the added Liquid Applique just adds extra dimension.

With a bit of alterations, Birthday boy Ian is popping out of a present instead of standing behind the closed presents. This image is also 3-D.And finally this cool cat just relaxing the day away.

Best of luck to all the applicants :)

Verve August Challenges

Well, I did it, I managed to get all 4 Verve Challenges on SCS done this month (well, actually last night).

The first challenge was to case a Verve Diva, and the twist was if they used patterned paper, you couldn't, and vice versa. I chose Shannon's Card because I just thought it was so pretty.
Since she used patterned paper, I couldn't, so, instead I stamped the paper to make it look like patterned paper. The stamp set I used I found on clearance at Michael's for I think about $3.00, and I love how the background stamp is so easy to line up. I stamped the butterflies on the white panel, and then stamped and colored them again, cut them out and layered them onto the stamped panel slightly bending the wings upward. Instead of using my Copics I pulled out my SU markers to color the butterflies.

This card is also for the following challenges:
Pile it On - Good things come in threes
Cute Daisy May - Blue and Green
Little Paper Shop - Bordering Blue, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss
The Cat's Pajamas - Chocolate, Sky Blue, Kiwi
Creative Belli Blog - Use water based markers

The second was a sketch challenge (which I rotated) with the twist of using your Edge Punches.

This fun Halloween Turtle stamp set I won from Jackie at Inky Antics ~ thanks again Jackie ~ and just had to pull him out for a card. I used my new Martha Stewart Spider Web and Pumpkin border punches (whatever would I do without those 50% off Michael's coupons?)

This card is also for the following challenge:
ABC Challenge - C is for Circles

The third challenge was another sketch challenge with the twist of adding a tag.
I just had to get this stamp set before it retired, and never used it yet, so I decided to finally ink it up. I love how quick this card was to make and no coloring involved! Perhaps I will make a few more of these for some quick and easy Christmas cards.

The final challenge this month was another sketch with the twist of using your favorite color combo. Well, if you are anything like me, you have more than one favorite. In the end, I decided to go with blue and brown.

I used white core paper for the main panel and after embossing it, sanded it down so the snowflakes appeared white. I cheated a bit on this card and used a pre-colored image that I had sitting on my craft desk for quite some time.

This card is also for the following challenges:

Happy Birthday Cupcake

The Cupcake Craft Challenge is celebrating their 1st birthday and the challenge this week was "Something Sweet" with the option to use a cupcake.

This adorable girl originally has wings and is sitting on a mushroom (and is a really cute stamp), but I decided to use her a bit differently. I stamped her two times, colored her, cut her out and then layered the pieces. I placed her on top of the paper pieced cupcake (which has lots of stickles on top). Instead of adding flowers to the card I decided to go with little cupcakes that also have stickles on the heart and the little green border.

This card is also for the following challenges:
All That Scraps - Sketch challenge ATSDTC60
Whimsy Stamps - Ribbons
Charisma Cardz - Lemon, Green and Pink

Anya's galore.....and Ian too

The Greeting Farm had a bunch of challenges up and I decided to try and get them all completed, and this is the result.

Challenge: Javablu (use the colors blue and brown)
For this card I knew exactly what paper I wanted to use and I thought that this Miss Anya would look good with it. I also got to use one of my previously "unused" EK Success punches too.

This is also for the following challenge:
Secret Crafter - Turquoise and brown

Challenge: Use any Sketch ~
I followed the Basic Grey Challenge sketch for this one (but unfortunately posted it too late to enter it over there).
I had this image already colored for quite some time, and finally decided to use her on a card (besides the colors just went so well with this Lime Rickey paper).

This is also for the following challenges:

Stamp With Us - Color challenge from a picture
Cute Card Thursday - Lazy Daze - Summer inspired (theme or colors)
Stamp Something - Birthday Somethings

Challenge: Crazy Hair

I had no idea what to do with this one so I decided to give Ian dredlocks. I just took some black yarn, doubled it up and then tied a few knots right next to each other. When the dredlocks were done, I cut a slit in his hat and slid the tops through.

This is also for the following challenges:
A Spoonful of Sugar - "Travel" using a theme or form of transportation and a skateboard counts
Digital Tuesdays - Male Cards (sentiment inside is digital "Happy Birthday to one cool dude!")
Stamp Something - Birthday Somethings
Pile it On - "Oh Boy"

Challenge: Bling and Shine

Well of course I just had to use lots of glitter on this one and metal accents and what better image to use than Rockstar Anya. I came across this wonderful zipper trim in the clearance section at Michael's and somehow it, well two actually, just happened to jump into my basket ;) I think it's fun!

This card is also for the following challenges:

Creative Inspirations - Tags
Crafty Creations - Tags
Creative Inspirations - Spots, Dots and Circles (and yes, this is a different challenge blog from the first one)

Challenge: Back to School
I had to go with Teacher Anya for this one and matched her up with my School stack. I tore out a piece of paper from a notebook, wrote a bunch of stuff on it and used the spiral punch on the edge .

Modern Sugar Blvd Challenge #16

This week was a fun challenge ~ Polka Dots ~ and who doesn't love Polka Dots?

I decided to use some textured cardstock with a white core, emboss it and then sand it so the white showed through. I really love how this looks, and don't know why I don't do it more often (well, actually it's probably because I generally use SU cardstock and it doesn't have the white core). To carry on the polka dot theme, I added dots to the scalloped circle as well as along the outside of the card and then finished it off with some polka dot organdy ribbon.

Stop on by the Modern Sugar Blvd blog to take a peek at more wonderful creations by the Sugars and join us in this weeks challenge.

As you may have noticed, I skipped a week on the MSB challenges. The Sugars have been split up into two groups and while there is still a challenge every week, we are doing them on alternating weeks
.

This card is also for the following challenges:

Double Dutch : Pink, Brown, Cream (I'm hoping the kraft color can count as cream since that's the closest I can get right now)
Creative Inspirations - Spots, Dots, and Circles
Pollycraft - Favorite Things - I love polka dots, flowers, ribbon and the colors brown and pink together

Release Day over at Modern Sugar Blvd

Today is the day for more new images over at Modern Sugar Blvd (they should be available at 6:00pm MST) and each of the Sugars had different images to work with for this release so be sure to visit each of them to check out their fantastic creations. Here were the images I was given to work with for this release:

These boots were just begging for paper piecing, so that is what I did and then I just had to add a little garden friend as well :) I also cut along the scalloped edge of the DP since no punches fit the scallops.

Here is a girl just chillin' out reading her fashion magazine ~ reminds me of when I was younger and read all those fashion magazines.

And finally, a piece of pie ~ I went with apple. I added micro beads to the pie to make it look like sugar.
If you haven't stopped by the shop lately, you are in for a surprise. Card Scents are now available with lots of yummy smells to choose from ~ I can't wait to try these out.

Gotta run ~ the kids want to go out......

Have a sweet day :)

Squigglefly's Digi Days Challenges

Squigglefly has just released a bunch of fun new images perfect for the upcoming holidays! I've got my eye on the Sara in Love image ~ it is too cute! On Friday "Digi Day" was on SF's yahoo group and then yesterday it was on SF's SNR Card Universe group. There were 5 challenges in all, and I could only get around to 3 of them.

The first challenge was to create a card and get the most points using this point scale:
10 points - use a Squigglefly image
5 points - use a Squigglefly saying/sentiment
5 points - use the color blue
5 points - use the color purple
5 points - put a tag on the card
5 points - use a flower/embellishment

I hit them all with this card.

The next challenge was to use the colors Black, Orange, Purple and Glitter. Well to me that says Halloween, well in this case Howloween.....
I don't have any Halloween images from Squigglefly, so I improvised and used the owl from the Shared Friendship image. Notice that drippy goo punched paper? My Michael's had them and quite promptly sold out, but I was told they were getting another shipment in and I finally got one of these ~ it only took a year. Hopefully I'll get just as lucky with that lace heart punch for Valentine's Day.

The last challenge I completed was to use the colors Green, Red and Gold. So of course I thought of Christmas and came up with this:

I colored the lighter colors of his fur with a white gel pen to add a bit of texture and after it was dry, I then colored over the top of it with my E31 copic). The bells on his collar are colored in with a gold gel pen. I would have loved to add a few real jingle bells to this card, but can't seem to find them at the moment (I know I have some somewhere....). The layout of this card may look familiar to you, since it is from a card I shared a bit a go, but I really love this layout. I wrapped gold cording around the larger panels to look like presents. Slowly but surely I am getting some of my holiday cards out of the way.

A Perfect Pair

All kinds of releases were happening this weekend and lots of challenges. This was a sketch challenge from The Digi Shack. I wasn't sure if I'd have the time to participate in it since I did spend a lot of time in the craft room last night and earlier today, but the kids ended up going over to the neighbor's house for a bit so I quickly put this card together:

Sassy Studio Designs Both Challenges

I had a bit of free time this afternoon so I participated in Sassy Sudio Designs Release Party Sketch Challenges. Here are my two cards:

Challenge #1

Challenge #2For this card I made the white "DP" and the "sentiment" by using two new stamp sets my daughter picked out yesterday (one by Recollections (Michael's and the other by Inkadinkadoo I believe).

I will update later as I didn't write down anything I used and had to post right away to get these in on time.

MSB Challenge #14 and DT Call

The challenge over at Modern Sugar Blvd this week is Simplicity ~ and that truly was a challenge for me as I am so used to using lots of different papers and embellishments. We had to use a single image on a note card and add a word, but I just couldn't leave it at that and had to add a little fence border and a flower to dress it up a bit. My parent's just bought a new house this week, and so this is what came to mind:

Check out the MSB blog to see some more wonderful projects. We'd love to have you join in our challenge!

Modern Sugar Blvd is looking for a few new DT members. To apply, just create a card or project using any Modern Sugar Blvd digital images and email it to
ModernSugarBlvd@yahoo.com by August 10th. For more information, check out this post on the MSB blog.

PMS Weekly Challenge

The challenge over at Paper Makeup Stamps was to create your own background paper, so I kept the rest of the card pretty simple so you could see the paper.

Paper Makeup Stamps CASE challenge

This card is for the 2nd challenge over at Paper Makeup stamps and it was to case a card in the PMS Gallery over at SCS but make at least two changes to it. Here is the card I chose to use and this is the result:
My changes are: a different image; different colors; different layout of the panels; and instead of coloring the image, I paper pieced it. I think this image is so cute paper pieced and am really happy with how the card turned out. I will definitely be using this layout again!

Paper Makeup Stamps meets Mojo Monday

We were going to head off to the State Fair today after the kids swimming lessons, but it looked like it was going to rain, so we waited a bit, and it's a good thing we did, it has been raining since early afternoon. So, I had a bit of time to work on a few cards and decided to join the PMS challenges today.

This card was for the first challenge which is a recipe challenge - using 1 Fairy, 2 Patterned Papers, Bling, 1 Sentiment and ribbon. I don't have a PMS fairy image yet, so I used one from The Greeting Farm.

I found that this would work perfect for the Mojo Monday Sketch challenge this week as well, so followed that sketch, rotating it 90 degrees (and made my circle a bit smaller so you could see the DP better).

This card came together really quickly. I embossed the circle with the Swiss Dots folder, colored the dots with my BG11 copic and then added stickles to them. I also added stickles to her wings to make them super sparkly. I colored her hair a bit differently than I normally do and I really like how it turned out.

This card is for the following challenges:

PMS Stamps - recipe
Mojo Monday - sketch
Creative Inspirations - Bling
Whimsy Stamps - Friendships
A Spoonful of Sugar - "Floral Fantasy"
Papertake - "Four Seasons" - the colors and floral paper remind me of spring

Stamps: Fairy Tink - The Greeting Farm; Sentiment - Fairy Nice
Ink/Coloring: Memento - Tuxedo Black; Copics (E00, E01, R20, YR12, YR14, BG11, BG32, BG34); White Gel Pen (Sakura)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Confetti Cream; Gina K Luxury White; DP - My Minds Eye (Bloom and Grow)
Embellishments:
Ribbon (Cream); Stickles (Stardust); Flower (Prima); Self Adhesive Rhinestone (Me and My Big Ideas)
Tools: Mega Scallop Circle Punch (Marvy); Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Swiss Dots)

A few challenges and our puppy!

I decided to spend a bit of time in the craft room last night after the kids were in bed and here are two more cards I whipped up. I forgot how quickly cards come together when there is no coloring involved. Quick and simple ~ love it!

The first is for Paper Makeup Stamps. I won this set from Katie at PMS (thanks again!) awhile back and haven't had a chance to use it yet but since this sketch was perfect for showcasing a sentiment I decided to ink it up.

This card is for the following challenges:
Paper Make Up Stamps - sketch
Allsorts - 3 Flowers, 2 papers, 1 Ribbon
One Stop Craft Challenge - Swirls and Pearls
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Pink and Green
Stamp With Fun - Pearls
Pile it On - At least 3 flowers

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Nature's Song - Paper Makeup Stamps; Baroque Motifs
Ink/Coloring: Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink
Paper: Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink, Whisper White
Embellishments:
Organdy Ribbon (Celery); Flowers (Prima); Self Adhesive Pearls and Rhinestones (Michael's); Stickles (hard to see, but I put it in the stamped flower centers before adhering the pearls)
Tools: Corner Rounder (CM)

This card is for Mojo Monday's sketch challenge this week. I won this stamp set from Julee at Verve (thanks again!) last month over at Splitcoaststampers. When I saw this set I knew exactly what DSP I would be using with it. I wanted to stamp the image in Groovy Guava on Vanilla paper, but I didn't buy the incolor inks that year so I had to settle for stamping it on Groovy Guava Cardstock instead.
This card is also for the following challenge:
Mojo Monday - sketch
Stamp with Fun - Pearls (even though they are tiny and hard to see - there are some on here)

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Abundant Blessings - Verve
Ink/Coloring: Memento - Rich Cocoa; Copic (R01) to colo Prima Flowers
Paper: Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip; DSP - Afternoon Tea
Embellishments:
Flowers (Prima); Self Adhesive Pearls (Michael's);
Tools: Oval Punch; Scallop Oval Punch; Mega Scallop Circle Punch (Marvy); Martha Stewart Border Punch; Photo Corner Punch (EK Success); CM Cutting System

And finally, here are a couple of pictures of our new puppy ~ Milton.
These are from when we went to first look at the puppies. Here Ashley was holding Milton and his sister Mabel (the white puppy). We were supposed to be getting both puppies, but a few days after we went to see the pups, we got a phone call telling us that Mabel didn't make it ~ she just would not eat anything.
Here are the boys with Milton (at this point I think Ty was sick of getting pictures taken) same day as above picture.

And here is Milton at home (in his bed):
Just being cute:
