MSB Challenge #4

It's Saturday and that means it's time for another challenge over at MSB. This weeks challenge was to use the image shown below using the design and colors of your choice. Here is mine in it's entirety:

I wanted to have a soft spring look for this card and chose this DCWV DP that matches so well with SU's soft subtle colors. I also had a chance to use the ribbon that I got from Sale-a-bration. After using it, I'm thinking I should have probably gotten two packs of ribbon instead of just one, oh well, live and learn.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Digi stamp - Modern Sugar Blvd
Ink: Copics (YG11, YG21, BV02, B32, 0)
Paper: Bashful Blue, Barely Banana; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Embellishments: Flowers (Imaginisce); Dew Drops; Rub-On's; Ribbon

Tools: MS Border punch

MSB is also having another major release today ~ I already showed you one card using the new Precious Dance Scene image and now I have a few more of the new images to share with you:

I was going to go with a Congratulations saying held in her hands, but decided to use the Great Job sentiment instead so I could use the smaller scalloped oval in the bottom left corner. I love this layout ~ it's a quick and easy one (well, aside from all the dots I drew on the borders) and will definitely be using this one again!

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: I Totally Support You Digi stamp - Modern Sugar Blvd; Sentiment - Rock the Farm (The Greeting Farm)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (E00, E33, E35, R20, R59, BG02, BG05, Y21, Y23); Signo White Gel Pen
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DSP - Bali Breeze
Embellishments: Ribbon (Apricot)

Tools: Oval and Scallop Oval Punch; Mega and Giga Scallop Oval Punch (Marvy); Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder; Dimensionals

We also had to make an item besides a card, and since I have a bunch of birthday's coming up, I thought this image would be perfect to use on a gift bag. I'm not sure who will be getting this bag yet, but when I do, I will probably go ahead and add a matted personalized message to the bottom portion of the bag.

Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Mr. Devil's Food Cake Digi stamp - Modern Sugar Blvd
Ink: Copics (C, C4, E53, E55, E57, RV10, RV11, Y11, 0)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip; Gina K Pure Luxury White; Kraft Colored Gift Bag (unknown)
Embellishments: Ribbon

Tools: Fiskars Border punch

Well, I hope you enjoyed my projects this week. Be sure to stop on by the blogs of the other DT members and see what fabulous things they came up with this week ~ the blogs are linked to your left.

Let's Go to the Hop.....

Modern Sugar Blvd is having a huge release on Saturday May 30th, and here is just one of the images that will be available.

When I saw this image I knew I had to somehow incorporate records (yes, those big black round things we used to listen to before CD's LOL). To make the records, I made lots and lots of circles with an embossing stylus on the black circles to represent the grooves on a record (which of course you can't even see in this picture ~ but trust me, it does look really cool) and then added a smaller pink circle with a hole in the middle for the record label. The black cardstock panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug Spots and Dots embossing folder, which unfortunately is not showing up in this picture at all. I realized I didn't have any DP that would work for the look I was going for so I drew music notes on the pink cardstock and voila, a fun background paper.

Be sure to check out all the other DT members blogs for more creations using a variety of soon to be released images, and I may just have another project or two to show you.....

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Digi Stamp - Modern Sugar Blvd
Ink: Copics (E00, E33, E35, R20, R21); Zig Double Ended Black Marker, Zig Black Journal Pen
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Basic Black; Gina K Pure Luxury White
Embellishments: Hand made records

Tools:
Various Circle Punches; Embossing Stylus; Cuttlebug Embossing Folder (Spots and Dots)

Have a sweet day :)

Best Friends......

I've had this adorable Reeta image all colored in and sitting on my "desk" for the past two weeks and finally had the chance to put her on a card. I love these new Wild Sprout images from the Greeting Farm (but that shouldn't be surprising since I can't tell you one of their stamps that I don't love LOL!).

When I was coloring her, I was going to do blonde hair again to make the card all matchy-matchy, but instead went with a dark brown. So why the dark brown.....well my daughter requested that I color more girls with darker brown hair like hers as opposed to the blonde hair or honey brown hair I usually do. So, while I will not give up the lighter hair colors, I will make an effort to include dark brown hair more often.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Reeta - Wild Sprouts collection The Greeting Farm; Sentiment ~ Pupstar The Greeting Farm
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (E00, E11, E55, E57, E59, E33, E35, R20, RV32, B000, Y21)
Paper: Mauve Mist, Barely Banana; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Embellishments: Brad; Ribbon; Flower - from stash; Jewelry Spacer; Dew Drops; Stickles

Tools:
Curly Label Punch; Fiskars Border Punch

This could be me.....

I spend so much time on the computer that this really could be me, well except for the fact that I am usually on my desktop while my daughter is the one on my laptop.....but anyways....

For this card I layered 3 different digi images that I thought would work perfect together. I love the soft colors of this card and did something on it that I never do ~ I used white mats. I really don't know why I never used white as a mat before, but I think they work really well with this paper. I'm also really happy with how the coloring of the wall turned out on this card ~ it looks almost sponged.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Couch and Blog Gal (digi stamps) - Modern Sugar Blvd; Wood Floor (digi stamp)- Michelle; Sentiment ~ Oval All
Ink: Bashful Blue; Copics (B00, B32, B34, B91, E00, E55, E57, E59, R20, C0, C2, 0)
Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Embellishments: Oval and Scallop Oval Punch; Big Brad; Dew Drops; Stickles; Flowers (Bazzil and misc floral stems)

MSB Challenge #3

Are you ready for another Saturday Challenge at MSB? This week we had to use a sketch (shown at end of post), the new cupcake image that will be available in the store on Saturday, and the colors pink, brown and ivory. Here is what I came up with:

I left this one without a sentiment and instead added a Happy Birthday message to the inside. The only thing I wish I had done differently was to print the image on ivory cardstock instead of white.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Modern Sugar Blvd. - digi stamp
Ink: Copics (E51, E53, R11, R81, R83, Y11, Y17)
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - Making Memories (Cosmopolitan)
Embellishments:
Ribbon - Flirty; Beads (Art Accentz)

Tools: Ticket Corner Punch,

Be sure to check out the blogs of the other DT members to see their fantastic creations this week. Links are on the left side.

Here is a little peek at the card I designed for our weekly challenge. Looks pretty yummy doesn't it? Stay tuned as the full card will be shown later this week.

Modern Sugar Blvd Mini Release

Later today, MSB will be releasing these two new images:Here are the cards that I created with these fun new girls:

I love this color blue and decided to do a monochromatic card. I didn't have any blue flowers to match, and didn't want to use white, so I used these blue rhinestone flowers I have. Of course she needed some bling too, so I added a rhinestone for the "charm" on the bracelet, and one in her hair (I love the soft colors of these rhinestones and now wish I had bought more at the time ~ they were only in the store for a short while and are now gone).

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Modern Sugar Blvd digi stamp; Sentiment ~ Small Sayings
Ink: Bashful Blue; Copics (B000, B00, B01, B02, B04, E00, E11, E31, R20, Y21, Y23), Signo White Gel Pen
Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Accessories: Rhinestones (Colorbok); Rhinestone Flowers (JoAnn's); Ribbon (Michael's); Eyelet Border Punch, Oval Punch and Oval Scallop Punch

Here is a girl with a phone in hand. I put sunglasses on her and colored them to match her outfit (the glasses are another new image that will be coming soon to MSB) and added crystal effects to give them some shine. The flower was punched out 3 times and then embossed. I cut three petals from two of the flowers and layered them underneath the full flower to give some dimension.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Modern Sugar Blvd digi stamp; sentiment ~ Seriously Sassy
Ink: Close to Cocoa; Copics (E00, E11, E53, E55, E57, R20, RV00, RV11, RV32, RV34)
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Pink Pirouette; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Accessories: Ribbon; Big Brad; Eyelet Border Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Square Punch; Marvy Mega Scallop Square Punch; MS Branch Punch; Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Crystal Effects

Now for my finaly card ~ I tried something new and made a round card. It was actually pretty easy to do. I used my CM cutting system to cut the circles, scored a line in the top two layers and attached the smaller end to the brown base.

For some reason I just could not get a good picture of this card. The color just isn't quite right ~ the turquoise border appears to be graduated in color when it is really all one solid color and her face is washed out.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Modern Sugar Blvd digi stamp; sentiment ~ Studio G
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (E00, E11, E35, E37, E57, E59, R20, BG01, BG02, BG05. C2, C3)
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Accessories: Ribbon; Dew Drops; Key Tag Punch; EK Success Flourish Punch; CM Cutting System

Mother's Day

Mother's Day has come and gone. My day started with breakfast in bed from my kids and then they showered me with all kinds of handmade goodies (which are my favorite kinds of gifts from them) ~ cards, a bookmark, a candle holder, pictures and an address book. We spent the day together, went to visit my MIL and then my parents came over. It was a lovely day!

I already had my Mom's Card done, and needed one for my MIL. I came across this beautiful flower digi stamp drawn by
Ninab on her blog and knew this is what I had to use. I followed the weekly sketch from Just Christmas and Birthday Cards Challenge blog, because I thought it was perfect for this image.

I chose a yellow color for the flower since MIL's sorority symbol is a yellow rose. For extra interest, I paper pierced the upper corner of the flower image as well as two corners of the sentiment.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Flower digi stamp - Ninab; sentiment ~ All Holidays
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (YR21, YR23, YG63, YG67)
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Mellow Moss; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DSP - Prints Pack
Accessories: Ribbon - Apricot and Spring Moss; Eyelet Border Punch

Sweet Little Miss and Create a Card Contest

On May 30th Modern Sugar Blvd. will be having a NEW RELEASE!! To kick it off they are holding a contest. Create a card or project with any MSB digi stamp and you could win the entire set of digi stamp images that will be released on the 30th! There will be 2 lucky winners of the complete set of new releases and then there will be 2 more winners that will receive 3 Free Digi Stamps.

The winners will be chosen by random, so get those images printed and start creating ~ the more you play the more chances you have of winning!

The DT has been invited to play along and here is my first entry:

Isn't this girl just adorable!?! She reminds me of my daughter, so sweet, but yet sassy at the same time. I kept the card pretty simple as I didn't want to cover up too much of this DP (it has glitter highlights on it, but it doesn't seem to show up to well in the picture). I paper pierced the scallop circle and added the flowers to the pierced holes with a brad.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Little Miss - Modern Sugar Blvd digi stamp; Sentiment - Sweet on You
Ink: Pumpkin Pie; Copics (E00, E31, Y21, Y23, YG03, YG05, YR16, YR18, RV14, RV17, RV19, R20)
Paper: Pumpkin Pie; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Accessories: Circle and Scallop Circle Punch; Felt Flowers; Brads (Making Memories)

I made this card for the Creative Inspirations Challenge and it also qualifies for the Cupcake Craft Challenge this week, which was to make a card for a boy or a man. Double Challenge Card

Here is my very first Hanglar and Stanglar card. I've admired this stamp line for quite some time, but unfortunately, they are not available in the US. So I was thrilled to find out that I won two of these cute stamps from Malin awhile back ~ thanks again sweetie!

For this card, I followed the sketch challenge over at
Cute Daisy May and the challenge at Stamp Something of making a birthday card using the color pink.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Hanglar & Stanglar; Sentiment - Everyday Flexible Phrases
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics (E00, E11, E21, E25, E27, R20, R81, R83); Signo White Gel Pen

MSB ~ 1st sketch/color challenge

Today is the day for Modern Sugar Blvd's very first sketch/color challenge. Be sure to head on over to the blog and join in the fun!

Now to show you my take on the DT challenge....

Notice the girl on my card ~ isn't she just the cutest!?! She is one of many new releases we've had this week over at MSB and is called "Hello Friend".

I just recently bought this Heidi Grace patterned paper (A Little Bird's Tale ~ Flowers), and couldn't wait to use it. When I saw this image and the color combo we were supposed to use, I knew exactly what paper I would be using ;) I colored her with my copics (E00, E11, Y21, Y23, R32, R35, BG45, BG49, YG13, YG17), cut her out and used dimensionals to place her on a white circle framed by a Tempting Turquoise scallop. I thought the Fiskars Border punch would be a perfect touch for this card, so I punched three strips of paper in Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red and Green Galore with it and love how it turned out. I added Dew Drops in each of the 4 corners and used a sentiment from CC Designs (Amy R Stamps - Friend Sentiments) stamped in Rose Red and matted it with Rose Red cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed my card. Stop by the blogs of all the other Sugars for more fabulous takes on this challenge.

Rock Climbing Adventure

Yesterday, we took the Daisy Troop and the Brownie Troop to an indoor rock climbing place. My oldest daughter is afraid of heights, so I was proud of her for getting as high as she did. My youngest had no fear and was having a blast. She went up to the top (but I couldn't get her to go in the bigger area because when we tried it, the straps kept pulling her on to her tippie toes and she didn't like that).

Here are some pics of my girls:
They had so much fun they are talking about going again next weekend.....and their brother wants to try it too. I wouldn't mind trying it myself ~ I went up a bit, but since I didn't have a harness on, I didn't want to go further than I could safely jump down from.

Mother's Day Contest ~ InStyle Stamps

Today's card is an entry for InStyle Stamps Mother's Day contest. I have always liked their stamps, but do not yet have any. I came across the contest and thought it would be fun to enter and a great way to try out their images as well. I was sent the Supermom digi image (copyright InStyle stamps) and had to use that along with a Mother's Day sentiment and ribbon. I knew I had this red, white, blue and brown paper that I really haven't used, and thought it would be perfect since I wanted her outfit to be red and blue, besides the stars just seemed to fit the image.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Supermom (digi) - (copyright InStyle Stamps)
Ink: Copics (B12, B14, R20, R22, R24, R27, R29, E00, E11, E30, E31, E33, E35, Y08); Signo White Gel Pen; Sakura Stardust Pen
Paper: Bashful Blue, Real Red; Gina K Pure Luxury White; DP - DCWV
Accessories: Star Punch; Ribbon; Adhesvie Gem (Colorbok); Rhinestone Brad from stash; Flowers (Prima); Martha Stewart Branch Punch; Dew Drops

If you want to enter, today is the last day, so hurry on over to the InStyle Stamps blog and request your image.

This card is also an entry for Cupcake Craft Challenge in which you had to use 5 different embellishments on your card. The 5 embellishments I chose were: flowers, brad, dew drops, a stick on gem and ribbon.

Take a Seat...

Here is a card using the soon to be released couch image from Modern Sugar Blvd.

When I saw this image I knew right away that I wanted to do a room scene. I had found this wonderful wood floor digi image on Michelle's blog and was looking forward to using it, so this couch was perfect for it. I printed the couch image Basic Grey paper (Sultry), cut it out and then free handed some pillows to add to the couch using SU DSP (Print Pack). The wood floor was colored with copics, the lamp was cut free handed and as a finishing touch the shade was embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder and then sanded.

On the inside I used the same DSP, a card panel punched from the Top Note Bigz Die and some flourishes from the EK Success punch. I left the sentiment blank for now, but am thinking of using it for a Welcome to/Congratulations on your new home card.

Card Recipe~ all items SU unless indicated
Stamps: Couch (digi) - Modern Sugar Blvd; Wood Floor (digi)- Michelle; Sentiment ~ KF Snap Stamps; Curly Label
Ink: Chocolate Chip; Copics
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla; DSP - Print Pack; DP - Basic Grey (Sultry) Making Memories (Cosmopolitan Collection)
Accessories: Eyelet Border Punch; Curly Label Punch; Top Note Bigz Die; Flourish punch (EK Success); Cuttlebug Embossing folder
